Jelly marinade for chicken
i have the silliest question. I just got off work after being there for 14 hours .... I had a small break today to eat a tiny bit of scramble eggs. I'm starved and came home from work to find that my sweet well meaning mother in law has decided to cook the chicken and green beans I had laid out for supper ....but she used a cup of grape jelly to cook on top of it . My silly question is, does the sugar cook out like it alcohol does when you cook with it or should I skip dinner . It smells good and I'm hungry but not willing to sabotage my possible lost 1 lb for the week lol . Thanks in advance

no the sugar doesn't cook out, any more than the sugar cooks out of a pan of brownies. Plus it might make you dump
Haha good point lol thanks

No, the sugar doesn't cook out - it condenses into a glaze. This is why you add grape jelly to bbq sauce - to make a glaze.
Don't eat the skin and you should be fine

I never knew how to make a glaze .... That's good to know as my hubby likes his bbq with a bbq sticky glaze. I skipped the chicken and ate a slice of ham . Thanks
