Ovary Removal Friday

There is a really great online forum called hystersisters. I had a hysterectomy 2.5 years ago and frequented that site. As we all know, there can be bad info online, and there are some very active anti-hysterectomy groups online that are too radical and scary, IMO. Hystersisters was balanced, with lots of good information, and a supportive environment.
I had a different procedure than you, so my recovery experience would be different. But I highly recommend that site.

There is a really great online forum called hystersisters. I had a hysterectomy 2.5 years ago and frequented that site. As we all know, there can be bad info online about anything, and there are some very active anti-hysterectomy groups online that are too radical and scary, IMO. Hystersisters was balanced, with lots of good information and articles, including details and pros/cons of many many procedures related to hysterectomy. And, a very supportive environment.
I had a different procedure than you--diseased uterus removed, but ovaries left intact--so my recovery experience would be different. But I highly recommend that site.
Also, related to nerves, I highly recommend the recording "Meditations to promote Successful Surgery" by Belleruth Naparstek, on the Health Journeys label. This is easy to get on both iTunes and Amazon. It has guided imagery to listen to before the surgery, and affirmations to listen to after surgery to promote a mental attitude conducive to healing. I cannot express how much this recording helped me deal with the nerves I had related to my hysterectomy. Just listening one time made a huge difference for me.
