NUT says to eat a lot of Carbs. . ? ? ?
Five years out I stick to around 50 carbs a day, up to 100 if I am biking a lot to train for a big ride.
I cut back a bit lately thanks to menopause nudging me up toward 160's. I am now back to 158 as of this morning.
Healthy fats, protein forward, dark/bright veggies. All you need. And your vitamins and fluids. Most NUTS have never been obese or had the surgery we had. They need to brush up on ASMBS guidelines.

You've already gotten great advice but I wanted to chime in and say that my NUT gave me similar advice and I ignored the **** out of her lol! She didn't give me specific carb goals but had things like pasta, potatoes and bread on my list to eat. The vets here around 3 weeks out for me were like um, no. SO I made my own eating plan and 17 months later I've lost 210 pounds. I still eat 800-1000 calories and between 30-50 carbs a day.
It was uncomfortable for me to ignore my NUT's advice because I wanted to follow everything the experts gave me but I have been successful so far and I vehemently believe I wouldn't have been nearly as much so if I listened to her.

With yours and others recommendations, I am staying the course at 20 to 30 carbs a day, and feel good with it. I did up by calories to 1200 per day max due to the higher level of workouts I am now doing, especially longer cycling rides. With the added fats for calories of coconut and olive oils, I feel great and my weight loss is again starting to respond a little better.
According to MyFitnessPal, my carbs are generally 50-90 per day, calories about 1000/day average. I am 4 months out last Friday. Still losing
