I feel like a prepper
My date is Sept 9 and I have three cases of Premier Protein two jars of Orgain, double redip of a blended chicken soup frozen into 1/4 cup portions, refried beans and roast beef hash one can each, jello mix, and all my vitamins. I also want to know where to find unflavored protein powder for mixing in soups.
I decided not to post a new thread but can I just say that I AM SCARED today! I found some YouTube vlogs and it is getting very real for me. I have been saying thst my mind is made up and it is but damn this is scary.
Unflavored protein powder can be ordered from Unjury either online or via phone. Also, I highly recommend ordering their chicken soup...it's high in protein and really tastes great!
Don't be surprised if your tastes change after surgery and you can't stomach the Premier Protein shakes. This happens to many people. If it happens, don't get rid of the shakes because eventually you will once again be able to stomach them.

I know how you feel I have been back and forth for weeks. One day i'm all in, then I see someone struggling and i'm talking myself out of it. I have come to accepting it and just pushing through the fear. My surgery will be open, it will be my third open surgery and I am terrified to do this again. I am not afraid of the proceedure, it's the adhesions and scar tissue that follow. I am afraid the scar tissue will wrap around my new plumbing. I spent three months with a colostomy bag after a ruptured colon. I never want to go there again.
We will be fine, I am trying not to dwell on it. I pray every day for the Lord to get me through this. We will just keep pushing each other along. Soon we will be on the other side exchanging recipes.
Ideas may be: a reclining chair with a stand next to it in case you need to sleep the first couple nights there, lots of pillows on the bed for support when you are ready to sleep in one, list of medical staff phone numbers, day and evening, to call with questions or concerns, a couple of family/friends pre-arranged to be on standby if you end up needing more help, a velcro abdomen band to wear around your mid-section if the hospital doesn't provide one, a thermometer to monitor changes in temperature if an infection is brewing, a bottle of Milk of Magnesia if the hospital doesn't send you home with any, pre-written thank you notes to leave at the nurses station on checkout day, a sports bottle with a poptop lid that lets water seep in your mouth effortlessly, sugarfree popsicles.
Instead of Milk of Magnesia, I recommend Miralax...actually this was/is a recommendation of my Center. I find it to be totally palatable. It's tasteless and can be mixed into any hot or cold drink. My Center recommends a daily dose for the first 6 months.
