Your fave source of protein

Surgery was 5/2, so almost to the 4 month mark here. I think I'm doing pretty well but still depend on shakes a lot to get to 70 of protein a day. Meanwhile I see people posting number from 80-100.

So what's your favorite source of protein per calorie? Keep in mind I can eat about 3-4 ounces comfortably at this point.

And I'm at Red Lobster now getting ready to have tilapia. Very high in protein! Yay!

**Edited to add: dumped the qdoba for higher protein.

Hi there!  4-1/2 mos post-op so eating the same 3 - 4 oz.  When I look back at my MFP diaries its a lot of ground beef!  Meatballs, meatloaf, seasoned taco beef, shepperd's pie (with just a little potato), cheeseburger, then steak.  Also chicken breast and chicken sausages and deli turkey....50 cal for 9 grs of protein!  Cheese is a regular in my diet as is yogurt.

I'm not a traditional person as to certain foods at certain times of day, so I could eat some spaghetti sauce for breakfast or whatever.

Shrimp with ****tail sauce

Canned solid white tuna

Skinless chicken breast

Turkey breast (not deli slices)

Steak, personally I like a Filet Mignon, its pricey so we don't have it a lot, mostly when we go to a restaurant

Eggs (egg salad, devilled eggs, over easy/hard eggs, quiche) - World according to Eggface's "Egg Bites" are the bomb

Grilled salmon (for some reason I love salmon but hate canned salmon)

Pork chops

Ground beef - made into either a cheeseburger or meatloaf

Turkey kielbasa

Bacon

Hot Italian Sausages

Deli meat (although I only eat salami, the rest usually had potato starch in it and I am allergic to potatoes)

Happy Shopping!

I do love me some devilled eggs, or just egg salad eaten with a spoon!  I just can't do shrimp, which is too bad because its so high in protein.

Daisy, M&Ms has their Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon on sale this week 6 x 4oz steaks (perfect size) for 25.99, they're very good!

Awesome thanks Ginny!  I never think to go to M&Ms!! I will check those filet's out for sure!

I love eating egg salad with just a fork/spoon too!!!  Too bad on the no shrimp, I LOVE shrimp and eat it often!

Almost 4 months out and my favorite is greek yogurt, hands down. Yoplait Plenti with Fruit - I could eat it exclusively, and some days, I almost do.

I love Red Wine Vinegar glazed salmon, so that would be my second choice with chicken breast rounding out the top 3

I try to stay away from 'subprime' meals and snacks. which is usually sausages, cheese, etc. They don't give me the same bang for the buck so to speak.

Solid protein with the best protein per calorie ratio is likely canned tuna. At least that I've had. Chicken is a close runner up.

Beef is my favorite, but the calories are higher because of the fat. But the fat is good for us, and RNYers early out are malabsorbing a lot of it. It's the one yhing wecwill always partly malabsorb, besides vitamins and minerals.
