3 weeks post op gastric bypass - advise please
Thanks, all advise welcome! Good luck with your recovery. My doctor told me to eat puréed/soft mushy food as liquid was quite literally going straight through me and I was dehydrated. It seems to have settle since then. I have been crushing my vitamin over porridge for the last two days and whilst it tastes very sweet I am managing. So I would say there have been vast improvements over last few days x
I use Citricel fiber. It is a natural fiber that does not cause excess gas and bloating. It will firm things up and make it easier and less painful to have bowel movements. I am more than eight years out and still need to take fiber most days and Imodium on occasion. Your intestines have been cut and reattached and most likely will never function normally again.
Something else I learned on this board is that taking magnesium tablets can make us very regular.
Your body has vitamins stored and you are not going to get a deficiency in a few weeks. I would strongly advise you to get vitamin patches. They are so much easier than chewing those vitamins.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Hello Tpearson- Congrats on having weight loss surgery. Hang in there! 3weeks post op is a difficult period. You will eventually start to feel better and regain your strength, and be out of pain. Definitely start stool softners and gas-x. :) It is really important as I am sure you know especially 3 weeks post op to be taking your bariatric vitamins. The ones I get from my program I can just take with water and do not have to chew those. I think when I was 3 weeks post op mostly drinking Isopure and liquid protein supplements and not very much food at all. Yo may want to try eggs, cottage cheese or yogurt. I really liked drinking the Proti Hot Chocolate then and started out every day with that. I started out at 337 and now I weigh 179. I hope that things improve for you and soon you will be out of pain. Keep us posted and good luck!
