I had mine out a week and a half ago, super easy, especially compared to the RNY. My surgery was at 8:00am and I was home in my bed by 1:30pm the same day.
The surgery was on a Wednesday (8/3) and I was back at work on Monday (8/8). I still puttered around the house that weekend, did laundry and cleaned. You're a bit sore, but that's it. The only part that has been tough for me is I was dealing with some nausea because your body doesn't know what do to with the extra bile initially. Don't suffer through that the first few days, they will give you a med to alleviate it, and it's so much better now. I totally get pouting, I'm a huge baby, and I was thinking "WHAT ELSE?!?!?"
Bonus, I'm not sure if it's related to the surgery or not, it seemed to kick my weight loss into high gear. I've lost 10+ pounds since I've had the surgery. That's the wound a few days after, it has healed up very nicely. If you have any questions, let me know!
So sad you are having your gallbladder out. It is frustrating, I know.
It has been 6 weeks since I have had mine out. I could go back to running after a couple of weeks. I did start wearing an exercise belt while I ran because it was hurting me. It helped a lot with the belt. Light weights a couple of weeks ago and hoping to start back at the gym to lift next week.
My gallbladder was infected so I was in the hospital with an IV antibiotic a few days before gallbladder surgery and then a couple of days after surgery. The doctor believed my gallbladder issues may have been related to a recent pregnancy/delivery. I was in my 20's, weighed about 195 pounds, in good health and found it took about a week of recovery time. I am sharing this information not to scare you or anyone else, simply stating my personal experience. Please do not allow yourself or anyone else tell you your gallbladder surgery is any kind of WLS noncompliance or failure on your part; it just happens sometimes unless you know otherwise. Wishing you well and thanking you for your story.
