How bad was your hair loss after surgery?
I had VSG, but at about 5 months, had terrible shedding in clumps. I too was afraid it never would come back. 2 1/2 years out and it is regrowing, much thicker than what is was pre-surgery. I have used Nioxin, don't know if it really worked. Do take the biotin it can help. My hair always grew slow though. When it started thinning, I went to the hair salon and got a look that would compliment the loss and have just been waiting for it all to grow back. My surgeon was adamant that it would come back and it did. It sucks while you are going through it, but it will get better.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. This has been very helpful. I am going to look for the Nioxin tomorrow. I will keep you updated.
Thank you!

12 Years out and I still struggle terribly with hair loss. I had thick curly hair b4 WLS. It is now thin, dry, not curly not straight. I use Nioxin, take hair skin and nails, vitamins, iron, and use Rogaine. I've been several dermatologists and no one seems to have any answer. It's mostly thin in the front...but the back has thinned considerably as well.
Good luck.

At 4 months my hair started falling out in clumps and I noticed this mostly in the shower. I am not entering 6 months and the clumps are getting smaller. I use biotin, just naturals shampoo & conditioner and a serum. I don't know if its helped with regrowth yet but it deffinatly helped make my hair look fuller. I can only wear my now shorter bob in one style due to bald spots at the crown of my head. Which seem to be getting a little easier to hide. Good luck, I hope we both come out skinny with beautiful hair :-)
