I'm still in the hospital...

Some of you might remember my post from last week about how awful my recovery has been and I was having trouble eating and drinking. Well, my husband too me to the ER Saturday night and they admitted me for dehydration and I am still here - going into my 5th day. They still don't know why I can't eat/drink without the nausea. They did an upper g.i. and said everything looks good inside from the gastric bypass side. I just want to get passed this so I can go home. So far I haven't tasted one thing that settles good - either drink or food.
Has anyone ever had problems like this?

Dehydration and nausea go hand in hand. If you don't drink, you get nausea, and then you don't feel like drinking. It's a vicious circle. You just have to make yourself drink whether you feel like it or not. Set a timer and drink a few ounces every 15 minutes. You don't have to drink big glasses of water all at one time. Just make sure you are sipping all day long. Adjust the temperature of the fluid. I could not drink anything cold for several months. I finally settled on warm peppermint tea (ginger tea worked too).
You can either get your fluids by forcing yourself to drink, or through a needle in the hospital. Keep trying. You can do this!
I'm sorry that sounds really rough. I hope you're feeling better soon and can go home!!

Well they sent me home today even though they don't know why I am vomiting and feeling nauseous. They gave me 3 different anti-nausea meds to use. They told me of course that I have to keep drinking but again - I have to find something that will settle okay. Good luck to me.

I had that same issue with my past Vertical banding. Once I started to get dehydrated, it was downhill fast from there.
I was hospitalized several times over the last few years due to not able get any liquid down for days. Once I was hydrated by IV, and started to get liquids down, I felt SOOO much better.
So glad I had revision to RNY. All that crap is now behind me.
