I messed up
4 weeks out, and I have lost 24 pounds; but even better, I have to wear a belt to keep my pants up! Such a positive result, and I really messed myself up yesterday. I didn't eat or drink anything I wasn't supposed to. What I did was worse. I got busy running errands (my excuse), and I didn't eat or drink enough yesterday. So when I got home I prepared dinner - cod with squa**** was the first day I was allowed to eat moist meats. It tasted so good, and I ate it way too fast. I have not had any problems with dumping or vomiting until last night. I was so sick. I was on the verge of being dehydrated. I definitely learned an important lesson. I need to be more mindful of carrying high protein snacks with me, as well as a water bottle. How could I be so stupid? Did I let my positive results allow me to become more relaxed? Who knows? What I do know is that every day I need to stay positive, be responsible for my actions, and be more mindful of the importance of following doctor orders. Here's to a new day, and a positive day, a day filled with responsible actions.
Oh yuck, I'm sure we've all had days when we ate too fast or a little too much and it made us sick. I remember rushing out to my follow up appointment and needing to eat before I left, so I shoveled it in and I had the slimies in the car all the way to the surgeons office. I was literally spitting in a cup in the car because I couldn't swallow my spit.
It'll take time and things will get easier, and you'll learn when to slow down. I also had cod for dinner last night and it was delicious!
I did this today, had a few bites of chicken and I didn't chew well enough bc I was in a hurry. SO glad I had a cup in the car...
Those slimies are horrible!

Learning to take care of our bodies is a 2 way street - avoid excess food and avoid getting too little. It happens though. I definitely have had days where I forget or don't have time to eat or just too busy running around. It will get easier as you get further out - you'll have more options available to stop and grab a snack if needed.
Just make sure you stay hydrated!! I ended up in the ER for dehydration a couple weeks post op. THAT is no fun at all (especially when ER docs don't comprehend WLS basics and the fact that I was there bc I literally couldn't drink that much - as they tried to force feed me tons of water. )

The same signs you'd see in a "normal" person would still apply. Thirst, fatigue, dry mouth, nausea, feeling hungry, headache, and urine being too dark are some signs that you need more fluids.
