Costco Rotisserie Chicken or not?
I have to admit, being a party of 1 my go to protein has been a Costco Rotisserie Chicken. It was so good I really didn't pay any attention to the label. I don't eat the skin. It was fast, cheap and taste sooooooo good! However there is a lot of "stuff" injected into it.
Do you eat this or not?
Thanks,
Kathy

I haven't had the one from Costco, but I have had them from Kroger, Meijer and Walmart... I just log it as rotisserie chicken and I love it. I usually cook, because we're a family of 4, but I have gone to this when I was working and we were rushed for time. I don't think that there is anything wrong with it.
I just looked it up in Myfitnesspal and it falls into something that I would definitely eat.
Sometimes but not often. Not sure what they put in that - but often the smell of that chicken makes me want to puke. I may put it in my cart ..and after 10-15 min - the nausea gets the best of me and I had to put it right back. Most of the time.
Yet I don't have that issue when I bake one myself. I am sure some of the chemicals affect me..

I wonder if it's the salt? I know it's brined. Here is what I found.....
The ingredients in the rotisserie chicken are whole chicken, water, salt, sodium phosphate, modified food starch, sugar, carrageenan, soy lecithin, flavorings, and xanthan gum. They are also said to contain no preservatives, MSG's, gluten, artificial flavors, or artificial colors. As for nutrition information, Costco rotisserie chickens also have 460mg of salt in a 3 oz. serving, so those needing to watch their sodium intake may want to take note. They are also high in cholesterol, but fairly low in sugar. The chickens are brined, which is what makes them so juicy and tender, but it is also the cause of the large amount of sodium per serving. Despite the fact that the chickens are rather sodium-heavy, they are an excellent protein source, and as long as you don't eat the skin; they are a lower-fat meat option.
