So maybe Whole Foods or Mariano's would have them?

I'm not sure what Mariano's is but a real health food store is best.

The calcium citrate brand easily found in retail stores is called Citracal made by the Bayer company.  It is sold in a bottle of 200 caplets for around $10-12.  It is a great choice because the caplets don't add calories to our day unlike the chews and is more economical, as well.  Having said that, I rotate the chews and caplets as a compromise.

There is a lot of confusion about calcium.

there is calcium Citrate and carbonate and a few others...  but bottom line is - we need to take enough of elemental calcium.

Elemental calcium is a term used in dietary supplement ingredient lists to refer to the amount of calcium in a product.[1] Calcium pills contain calcium in a variety of molecules, such as carbonate, citrate, citrate-maleate, orotate, etc. Each pill supplies a different amount of elemental calcium when absorbed, and hence differs in its effectiveness. For example, calcium carbonate is 40% elemental calcium by weight; citrate is roughly 20% calcium, etc. Thus a 500 mg pill of calcium carbonate contains 200 mg of calcium and the container will indicate each pill has 200 mg of elemental calcium. This is the calcium that is actually available to the body and, as such, is the amount that one needs to consider towards his/her daily requirement.[2] Hence, one should read the label carefully to determine the number of pills to be taken.

Learn to read the labels: some will say "xxx mg calcium from calcium citrate" - that woudl mean that they list elemental calcium, others may say "500mg calcium citrate " that that would be equivalent of 100 mg elemental calcium.

it is recommended taht we take 1000-2000 mg of ELEMENTAL calcium... soreal your supplements label - ask the manufacturer a question if you are not sure...

Mine is 2000 mg (500 4x day). I need a new source of calcium citrate. I have been taking the chews however, I can not tolerate the sugar alcohols in the chewable products. What do you like?
