NSV - No more CPAP

I know I've posted here before how much I hate my CPAP.  As a surgery requirement I had to start using one about 2 months in to my 6 month pre-op planning.  I had a follow-up appt. with the pulmonologist last month - I told her how much I disliked using the machine even though I was very compliant.  She said I could try another home sleep study, but not to be disappointed if it came back that I still needed it.  I just received the good word - I no longer need to use it.  I had mild sleep apnea before 8.9 stop breathing per hour before and my new number was 0.9.  WHOOO HOOO - no more Darth Vader for me (that had become hubs night time nick name for me)

Surgery Date June 3, 2016

HW: 329 W at first consult 290. SW 238, LW 128, CW 139

Congratulations!

I too had to get a CPAP... I named it Horton because I thought I looked like I was an elephant wearing it!

We went to Florida in June, and I just didn't have room to pack it (Mine is way too big), and no room to carry it on. I left it at home. My Hubs said I didn't snore, so I just quit using it... I'm good with that, and I'm not going back to that sleep doctor... he charges so dang much money for me to walk in the door!

I figure if I'm not snoring anymore, then I'm good. I know, that's NOT the way you're supposed to handle this! LOL

 Congratulations to you.

It seems about 80% of WLS are able to get off CPAP. I was not the lucky one. No matter what I weigh I get to wear one. I'm usually asleep by the second breath. With the covers over my head. I'm sure it's a scary sight.

I have used a CPAP for many years.  I had WLS a little over a year ago.  Around that same time I got a new CPAP machine that records the "episodes" nightly.  I can access it via internet app.  I'm not sure what my original "episodes" of stopping breathing were to start with, but I am usually around 0.3 average per hour per night.  Sometimes none.  The most I have EVER had since having the new machine has been 1.0 per hour.  Since I have been on CPAP so long, I'm not monitored by a doctor.  Just curious, but did your doctor give a number or range that would be ok for coming off the machine?
