Vacationing RNY style
last year when we vacationed in Vegas I was only 5 months post op. I stayed on Plan 100 % but did have huge troubles with hydration, and recall having a few meltdowns with my hubby who 'just didn't get it.' I had a fast realization that surgery was my choice and I can't project any of the complications of how I must eat/drink on him- I'd have to figure it out on my own and adapt accordingly.
so that was my goal this trip. I brought protein Shakes to 1) save money eating out and 2) ensure I met my protein goals each day since planning eating is such a huge unknown when you're in an unfamiliar place. I stopped at a convenience store the first night to make sure I had milk for my shakes-- and bought a gallon of water. I Brought a water bottle from home to refill before each outing to make sure I could have it on hand to stay hydrated and take my supplements. I wake early and use the fitness center in the hotel-- and eating protein forward is not hard-- everyplace offers some type of protein.
So far so good. No meltdowns. Next trip I'll bring my hydro flask since keeping the Water cold has been nearly impossible. Otherwise I'm coping far better then I did last year.

This sounds like an NSV for sure. Figuring out the things that work for each of to be able to live this lifestyle successfully is what can give us long term lifelong succession this battle with obesity. Sounds like you are doing amazing there, peachpie. And thanks for sharing what you've found works for you with us. Congratulations! I always love workout rooms in hotels because I get to try new types of exercise equipment from what I have at home. Since we've moved from hotels to RVing,I just walk and walk and walk some more for my workout. But it is great to see new sights while I'm doing it!
Nice planning Peach! It does require a little extra thought and effort, but it amazes me the number of people who act like it's just too difficult to bother.
Have fun!

Great Job Peach! When I went to AZ in March I brought powdered protein and a shaker cup....knowing I wouldn't know where and when food was coming, so glad I did.
