VENT... Ugh! (Kinda off topic, but kinda not)

So, this morning I went to Facebook and to the Doctor page that NYMOM22 has her pictures on. I responded - and btw, you've done such a super duper fantastic job, and look great! - and honestly didn't think about it again... then I had a notification that a 'friend' of mine had also responded... so I click on the link, and she had made a really snarky response there!!!!!

WTF??! Number one, I'm not close to her at all. Our daughters hung out for a while because they are in band together. I've invited her over many times over the course of 2 years, but she has pretty major anxiety issues, and I'm afraid is leaning toward agoraphobia... anyway, I mention that because as a person that needs 'help' from the medical field, I really never would have expected this!

I did respond to her, and I'm still fuming over it... but I'm also a little freaked out that she's following my posts like that! I guess I need to figure out how to change my security settings because I go to all kinds of boards, read, and comment. I don't necessarily want folks following me around FB like that! What else can she see? Holy Moly! But seriously, if I were to follow a friend to some random group they posted in, I would never express my opinions/ stupid at that/ on that board! It's like I feel violated in some weird way!

I considered even unfriending her! But we live in the same small town, and it's a place where everyone knows everyone. She grew up there. Last thing I want is her bashing me to the town... repercussions on the kids and my real estate business are a real possibility!

So, I'll say it here! She is a messed up individual who is projecting her ****** up personality onto her daughter! She can't even get out of bed to pick her daughter up from band camp because she's too freaked out living in her messed up world, so MY daughter gets stuck taking home this poor teenage girl that is whiny, uses lies to get her way, and is learning to be as debilitated as her mother!Hmph! 

Thank you. I feel (a little) better now.

Now, who can tell me how to block people from seeing things like where I post? I don't want a complete block down because my page is fairly open for RE reasons, but I don't need every single person seeing all of my stuff!

You can put people like that on "restricted" so that they only see posts that you make public.

Also, people get notifications or something shows up in their feed that you liked something or wrote something... it doesn't mean they're following your posts closely. And if she's seeing that, she's seeing everything. And so could everyone else in your friends list not on a restricted list.

Spend some time looking through the privacy settings on Facebook and don't believe what you see shared about the new FB policies. People like to start trouble and mock those that use social networking sites without understanding them.

I'm going to check it out when I get home. 

I don't think she'll be one of the people I share my surgery stories with! LOL 

You are in a tough spot as you sell real estate in your small town. If it were me, I would unfriend her. I do not know if you can block her if she is your FB friend? I know you can set your security so only friends can see your content.

I think I can block what she sees if I put her into the acquaintance category... I'll check it out more at home this evening...

Small town or not; she'd be defriended and blocked, but I'm very ungracious and hold grudges. ( one of my many personality flaws ) I'd probably also rant LOUDLY about what happened and make a reference to glass houses. ( Not recommending that, of course. ) I can understand not wanting to totally lock down your account; you shouldn't have to resort to such extremes. 

I like the suggestion to limit who can see particular posts. I actually do that with my kids so they can't see when I ***** about things their eyes shouldn't see. 

I stopped on that board because I didn't want to further call attention to her. She sits in her house all day long, reads books, and apparently stalks everyone else's posts as well... seriously, I won't be reaching out to her in any way again. My own mother struggles with anxiety, so I tried for years to encourage her... not any more! Hmph.

(and if her brother and wife weren't two of a serious team of Realtors in the area, I might have gone off on her personally, but I really need to hold my tongue on this one and take the high road.) 

I saw her post- it was very snarky passive aggressive.

She obviously has issues.

I'm so frustrated with her.... and if she were truly sorry, that apology should have come in the way of a personal text message... she knows my number for sure.

I think the doctor did a good job of politely responding to her negativity. Can you hide her posts from your feed? I've done that to some friends/family. It's almost as good as unfriending someone since they disappear to you.
