things suddenly got real!
So, I had my appointment with all of my testing back in May. We were selling our house at the time, plus had a couple of vacations coming up, so I put my surgery off until August 29 so that i could start out well..focused, in our normal routine, etc. We leave for the second vacation on Friday and we will be gone for a week. The Monday after we get back I have my pre-op appointment, and a week before surgery I will be starting my mostly-liquid-diet. So, I get an email from the surgeon's office yesterday with paperwork and payment reminders and such, and in there it says that my surgery will be cancelled if I have gained any weight before my pre-op. Umm...no one told me that! I mean, they gave me a list of habits to work on...protein with each meal/snack, chewing food thoroughly, starting supplements, not drinking with meals, that sort of thing. But I haven't been watching the scale,,,my scale was packed! And traveling, moving...there's been too many drive thrus in my life, kwim? Anyway, I panicked when I got the email and started digging for my scale. I found it. I've gained 5 1/2 pounds since May. Sigh. I emailed the office and they said, well, they really mean a gain of 10 pounds or more. Still. I'm not wanting to take chance, especially since we are getting ready to travel again. So today I am officially dieting, travel or no. My plans are basically to stay as low carb as possible, meal sub a protein shake for breakfast, and chug as much water as I can manage. Also, our vacation is a week long camping trip and opportunities for walking are plentiful. Hopefully this will be enough.

EEEK! Don't you hate it when reality slaps you in the butt?!
Don't bring things for smores... do bring lots of eggs and bacon to cook over that fresh flame at the camp site. Don't bring corn on the cob, but do make yummy steaks, chicken, and grilled veggies on skewers!
Remember, all of the walking in the world won't walk off all those carbs.
You got this! The end of August will be here before you know it ;)

you don't want to mess up and risk not getting your surgery or it getting cancelled for not following procedure.
there will always be vacations and crazy life events going on, you have to know and make the best choices for you based on your eating plan.
best of luck!!!
You're back for two weeks prior to your surgery. Here (Ontario) we have to do a liquid diet for two weeks. I drank 4 premier protein shakes a day for two weeks and lost 18 lbs....
Yes make smart food choices while you're camping but you can also self impose an all liquid diet for longer than what you're surgeon recommends.
You can do this!!
