What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?

Good afternoon menu friends,

I am trying to dig myself out of a mental funk I've been in all week. I don't know if this is hormone dump or what but I have been feeling anxious and tired. This is out of type for me so I'm not coping great. At least my appetite is low so the head hunger is more manageable. Last night I was in bed before my 10yo.

Qotd- my work pet peeve are patients that are always late for their appointments. I especially hate when someone shows up late for a 15 min follow-up. I also struggle with med seeking patients just looking for controlled substances (mostly benzos like Xanax). I have had a few people become threatening when I refused to give them. It's rare but always upsetting.

menu for today is uninspired!

b-coffe with cashew milk, Splenda

s- Oikos crunch

l- Premier Protein Banana

d-leftover NY Strip

I fell off the wagon last night and got a waffle cone with butter pecan from Brusters. So I'm thinking its not the end of the world if my calorie count is low today. I got in the bad habit last year of soothing myself with food after a tough day of work. I need to break this mental association!

Soothing ourselves with food is a hard habit to kick. There's a good book called The Emotional First Aid book: a practical guide to Bariatric surgery. It's available on Amazon. It's been really helpful for me.

Not sure of the nutritional on that oikos crunch but it may be higher in sugar than the triple zero. usually more sugar makes you crave more sugar.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have wondered about the difference between the 2 kinds of Oikos. It might be time for a change. Anything to reduce these carb cravings, yeesh.

The triple zero is much better on sugars.

the oikos regular blue ones are pretty high from what I remember.

Not sure if you have a Kroger store near you but they have a brand called carbmaster that is awesome , 3 grams sugar and 60 cal.

My butt was kicked by helping my daughter move yesterday. Helping her lug a queen sized box spring up 7 flights of stairs is not my idea of fun. Thank God we could bend the mattress enough to squeeze it into the elevator. It was kind of funny. I was pinned up against the back wall of the elevator, with just my eyes peeking over the edge of the mattress. Couldn't have done that at 293 lbs.

I don't work other than raising my kids, 2 of whom are adults. I guess I'm a semi-retired SAHM? ( Two down, two to go. ) So...no answering QOTD today.

3+ years out of surgery

B: coffe with Splenda and cream

S: yogurt with half a scoop of yellow cake batter   protein powder

L: 3 oz chicken salad, babybel cheese

D: Will do tacos tonight since I didn't get to make them last night. I'll have taco meat, cheese, and a little dollop of sour cream.

Totals 740 cals, 63 gr protein, 19 gr carbs, 45 gr fat

It's a brand called Chocorite. Weird name...haha, but it's good, and the stats on it are decent. I found them at the nutrition store attached to my surgeon's office, but here is a link to the website. I used that brand when I was newly post-op. Most of their flavors are tasty.
