I had a clinic sleep study a couple years ago.

I could never understand how they expected me to sleep and measure me with the mask and wires hooked up to me, in a strange bed and place.

But it did find I had sleep apnea, and was given CPAP machine. It greatly helped, but now that I have lost some weight I no longer need it. Snoring and stop breathing is gone.

But I still deal with the normal restless (Toss and Turn) nights some times, that is very irritating. If I did not need to work in the mornings, I feel like I could get up a do hours of work.

Good Luck

Howdy! Glad your doc is awesome and that you have a plan. The sleep study I had for one on my pre-op things was also done at home (it was a 2-night one). They originally wanted me to follow up with the in center one but my surgeon was confident that I would be fine after surgery and I have been. Honestly the thought of sleeping at the clinic scared me, I wondered how I would even sleep while knowing people would be watching me sleep.

QOTD: I only drink water and of course coffee! I get in at least 120 ounces of straigh****er everyday. I don't like mine with anything in it at all.

Time since surgery: 23 months

B: SF latte, egg beaters with shredded cheese, 2 turkey sausage links and some cherries

L: Bananas and cream protein shake with powdered PB2 with chocolate

S: SF latte, Vanilla L&F Greek yogurt, pork rinds and jerky

D: TJ chili lime chicken burger, FF cottage cheese, some baby carrots and SF jello

E: 6 miles this morning and elliptical at lunch

V/W: On track

Totals: Cals:1180 Protein:155 Carbs:71 Fat:27

Have a great one!

Water water everywhere, ice cold - god I hope when my surgery comes I don't lose my love for water.  I have already given up soda and caffeine I really don't want to mess with my ice water.  Enough said on that.

I have had two sleep studies. One about 10 years ago and was diagnosed with sleep apnea and went to bed looking like a fat Tom Cruise in Top gun with my fighter pilot mask on every night. Hated it so much that I lost 100 lbs with WW just to not have to wear that damn thing. Well as you all might be able to relate to that weight has returned up and down considerably since that time to the point that I had to have a second study done oh lucky me.

The insurance company first sent a glove to my house that you put on one night to go to sleep with, that  one makes you look like Michael Jackson with only one glove on but actually measures your blood O2.  That gets sent back to them and they then decide if you need a sleep study in a lab.  Off I go at about 9 pm to the lab where the very polite lady puts about 7 million wires and leads on my head and body tells me to relax and go to sleep. Really ? I feel like a 57 Chevy in the garage getting a diagnostic check up.  Needless to say after about 6 hours of tossing and turning trying not to choke myself they wake you up and tell you to go homes And go to work !  Go to work the hell with that I went home and got some sleep.  I still have a CPAP machine and still struggle with it. This version of the machine is blue tooth enabled so the doctor knows right away if your not using it. When I do fall asleep with it and I can last the entire night it really does put me into deep sleep where I dream the most and wake up refreshed

Pray you won't need one because I struggle with it badly and I feel bad for my wife who has to sleep next to a chain saw every night, God bless her !

Im sure that it has help and even saved many lives but I hate it.

Sorry that's not a very bright outlook for you. Good luck with your sleeping issues

So funny; maybe a fat Tom Cruise but a better-looking Tom Cruise from your photo.  I hated my Cpap machine so badly, after WLS, it got smashed to pieces even though it cost a pretty penny. The only part I liked about the whole Cpap experience was the sleep specialist said I wore a size small face mask.  Size small everybody, size small.  If you really like cold water, use the WATER TAB at a pop dispensing machine.  My local Target lets me fill my water bottle using their pop machine water tab and the water is colder than ice water. My favorite beverage is plain 'ol water and way too much Starbucks Sumatra coffee. Northern Minnesotans DO NOT like or understand sweet tea.  Our local Dickey's BBQ might as well ditch it as an offering and McDonalds sells it for any size $1.00 when they can't even give it away. Bleh.  I just completed a PULSE OXIMETRY SLEEP STUDY which involves wearing a monitor at the end of a finger. The pressure of the clamp made my finger thump--somehow I fell asleep with a throbbing finger tip.  Yes, bless the spouses; DH used to spend many a night shaking me awake enough to take a breath when I stopped breathing.

When I was in Canada a couple of weeks ago, all they had was sweetened tea. Wth? I felt like I was in the South.

Good morning everyone,

I had a sleep study done a few years ago to see if I had sleep apnea. (I didn't.) the hardest part was all the glue they used in my hair to attach the sensors. I did eventually sleep, but it wasn't a restful sleep. Anyway, I hope you get some answers. You didn't say how you slept last night???

You guys, I jettisoned the protein bars a week ago and I've lost 3.8 pounds since! It's so nice to see the scale moving again!

Qotd: probably my beloved one cup of coffee with cream in the morning. But I also crave iced tea all day. I buy it by the gallon, unsweetened, and then I add stevia. Yum.

Food:

B two eggs, coffee with cream

L ham, cheese, low carb wrap

D turkey meatloaf

S laughing cow light wedge, 2 crackers, light and fit yogurt

Calories 790 Carbs 38 Protein 84

Morning AV. I've had 2 sleep studies. The worst part was getting the sticky stuff out of my hair the next day. And pulling all those leads off of your chest hair. Watch out for that. And, for some reason, they insist you wear pajamas.

QOTD. I drink a ton of diet pepsi or coke. No preference, just whatever was on sale. I average over 200 ounces a day during the week, but closer to half of that on the weekends.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

I was a Diet Coke addict prior to surgery (at least 6 cans a day).  I have managed not to drink much soda at all since surgery.  The bubbles hurt my pouch... however, moscato d'asti does not... strange.

Good morning, glad your appointment went well.  I hope the melatonin helps, I should be taking it myself when I have sleep issues, but for years wouldn't because of all the meds I was taking, now that I am practically med free I should definitely try it.

QOTD:  My go to drink is water.  I am not a soda person, haven't been for years.  I like a cup of coffee in the morning, but try not to drink it every day because I need cream and sweetener and cream is too fatty and sweeteners bother my arthritis.    At night I love a cup of decaf Irish tea, have to have something hot with my nightly miralax.

Time since surgery 15+ months

B:  Jones turkey sausage patty, egg and 1/2 fiber one english muffin

L:  Mixed greens, tomato, red onion, steak, homemade vinaigrette

D: Meat sauce, zoodles & ricotta

S:  Dannon L&F Key Lime, Boom chicka pop
