What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning! Hope you find a solution to your sleep issues AV. I have never had a sleep study.
QOTD: a huge cup of hi-test black coffee in the morning (24 oz), then decaf or water with or w/o crystal light the rest of the day. Before bed, a cup of decaf chai tea (clear) or sleepytime tea.
B: yogurt and fresh blueberries
L: ham w garden tomatoes
D: chicken w some kind of green veg
S: fruit, chicken nibblers, string cheese
Yesterday I installed a roller blind in my west-facing kitchen window in the hopes that it will keep the heat down during these dog days of summer. It took almost 2 hours to assemble and install, so I'm happy there was only 1 big window to cover!
Edited to revise autocorrect.
Good morning! Kristen, glad your PCP listens to you and is trying to get to the bottom of your sleep issues. I've never done a sleep study, and at this point would probably fail (if you can fail it???) since I'm so used to a small amount of sleep. One of the senior attorneys I used to work with had a hard time sleeping and took ambien. Turns out it gave him a sleep shopping habit. Soon after he started, packages that he didn't remember ordering starting being delivered to the office. It was always fun to see what his unconscious mind ordered. Oh, and I agree with you about half . . . weird looking. My weird word is awkward . . . it just looks wrong.
KQOTD: I have a hard time with plain water and there are only a few bottled brands that I can drink plain (Smar****er, and Core are two that come to mind) So when I don't have those available, or I'm at work, I rely on Propel powder. I fill my 30oz cup up and use one tube of the powder. The come in a box of 10 tubes and I open the box and throw it in my drawer so I never know what flavor I'm going to get. My favorite is the grape. I can't have caffeine yet, so Iced Tea is out, but once I can, that will find its way into the rotation.
Well, I was able to get 82g of protein in with just food yesterday, but I'm going to dial it back today and have 1 protein shake. The hardest thing for me to eat was the ground turkey and cheese and I'm hoping it's just a passing phase, since that's my go to breakfast. After my VSG I had problems with ground beef early on, so I'm hoping I'll grow out of it. On the try list today . . . a piece of filet.
B: PRotein Shake, skinny vanilla latter
L: 2.75 oz Chicken, tbs hummus
D: Filet if all goes well and quinoa with feta
S: Light and fit; 1.78 oz turkey breast and 1 babybel cheese
Totals: Cal: 721; PRotein: 101g; Fat: 18g; Carbs: 39g
My situation was weird, I had eaten it fine once or twice and then had it with some beans and cheese one night for dinner. I was fine that evening but when I woke up in the morning the room was spinning and I felt horrible, I had my hubby call the on-call nurse while I laid in the bathtub. I ended up having to throw up (now mind you, it was a piece the size smaller than a pencil eraser) and then I was fine...so I don't know what it was or why it happened but didn't even want to try it again for awhile.
Yup, ground meats are harder at first, because they only grind the crappy cuts. It will get easier though.

Good morning all.
I have never had a sleep study, but when I had my preop colonoscopy they told me I stopped breathing quite a few times during the short procedure. So definitely had sleep apnea; however, I would say I no longer have it since I have lost the weight. My husband says I don't stop breathing in the middle of the night now. He did have a study about 6 months ago and has a machine now, which was life-changing for me because now he no longer snores.
QOTD: I start my day filling up my water bottle to the top with "drink" ice. Yes, that is a thing. My neighbor has a special ice machine that makes little square cubes of ice, like the kind you can buy in the store that are clear. I swear it makes all the difference in the world. Then I pour in my brita water from the fridge. The bottle keeps the ice all day long (almost 24 hours), so I just keep adding water throughout the day. My drink of choice when I go anywhere is iced tea and my pet peeve is iced tea with only a few ice cubes. Come on people, it is "iced" by its very name! I occasionally drink diet coke (with life if they have it) when I want some bubbles or caffeine. I don't like coffee at all, but my husband drinks enough for both of us. And wine, but only good wine, and only occasionally. My husband always want to open a bottle during the week, and I don't want to get into that habit, so I bought him boxed wine so he can always have a glass. It is wine that my daughter is actually the winemaker for, so it must be good, right?
Menu is up in the air today. But here is my plan for now.
B: Premier Protein
L: Scallops, salad
D: Chicken lettuce wraps
S: Laughing Cow cheese and crackers
Have a great day.
