What's the deal with water?
Since RNY I just do not like water. I don't like it cold, I don't like it warm or lukewarm. I crave ice tea and I put flavored sweeteners in my water and it's fine, but plain water, blech.
My surgeon says no carbonated beverages for 2 years after surgery. On my recent vacation, I had a couple of Diet Pepsi's because the water was gross and the tea was all pre sweetened. I was having trouble getting enough fluid in, so I resorted to diet pop.
Anybody else hate water?

Some people just don't like the flavor of water, but others have a medical reason why it doesn't go down well. There can be a difference in the surface tension of drinking water and the fluid in your digestive system. When the two meet, it's uncomfortable. Adding crystal light, tea, etc acts as a surfactant, changing the surface tension, and allowing the water to go down better.
It doesn't really matter what you drink, as long as it's zero calorie.

I hate water. I cut G2 in half with water and it makes it more palatable. Or just drink diet pop... it's not good for you due to chemicals etc, but fluid is fluid, and per the ASBMS, the caffeine will not kill you... I have lived off Diet Mountain Dew/Diet Coke for the past five years without a major issue (other than, I will admit, having to add magnesium supplements to my daily routine).

I am not a doctor, but I play one at work.
I'm not really a fan of plain water, but I'll drink it if it's what's available. I mostly drink half strength Crystal Light type stuff. Like I'll use one of the drink sticks (the CL version of the Arnold Palmer and the Wyler's blueberry lemonade are my faves) in a one liter bottle. I also have a borderline obsesh with the Wegmans version of Fresca. It's called Wedge and you can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
I had a problem with water in the first month - if it wasn't flavored, it irritated my pouch. One of the nurses told me that was common.
So, if I'm going to need something to drink, I bring it. I keep flavored Crystal light pouches in my purse to add to unsweet tea or water for times when I didn't plan as well.
This is a lifestyle commitment. Planning is your new life. People who fail to plan, plan to fail, etc. You can do better. Why sabotage yourself now? I've seen so many of your posts and I'm worried about you - it doesn't seem like you're fully committed.
(FYI -Sweet Tea, even if it's not decaf, would be better for your pouch than soda of any type this early after your surgery)
