HELP! OUT OF CONTROL EATING
Hello all,
I am out of control with my eating, have gained 10 lbs over the last 2 months. I am eating things I know I am not supposed to indulge in, cookies ice cream etc. I keep saying to myself I am going to start eating better, but then the next day I am back to snacking again, especially at night after dinner. would love any suggestions to help me get out of this vicious cycle I am in, and back to basics.
Thanks for reading this

I'm newly out of surgery... 11 weeks. But I've dieted enough in my life to say one thing (and I'll let the veterans deal with specifics)...
You just have to do it.
That's it.
Do It.
There's no magic pill to make you start. You just have to want to.
Good luck, I'm hoping I don't ever end up in your shoes, but if I do, you can remind me of my own advice

Hi Pauline! I know exactly how you feel. I gained 10lbs LAST WEEK while on vacation. It's so easy to let things slip and then really hard to get back on track. I am just getting myself back in line now, and the only way I can do that is to cut out all the simple carbs. Eating carbs make you crave more carbs.
A friend here at OH has designed a plan that can help. Check out the 5 Day Meat Test. It basically cuts out all carbs for 5 days to help cut that nasty carb craving cycle.
Another thing that helps me is to come here to OH and be a part of this community. Post often, share your experiences, and offer support where you can. I think that keeping the lifestyle as a priority in my life helps me to stay on track.

Get the crap out of your house. If there are people in the house who eat junk make them hide it from you. I know that sounds silly but I have to do that sometimes. I can't have trigger foods in the house.
I threw caution to the wind and gained weight back I am three years almost out.
I don't say the next day I will do better. I try to do it the next meal. We can do a lot of damage in a day.
One meal at a time.
Like Pam said...you just have to do it.
The only way to quit eating all that yummy, bad for us food is to go cold turkey...literally. LOL. ( or warm turkey, or chicken, shrimp, steak...etc. )
Going straight protein will help you, though some people disagree with this method, but it will definitely help you kick those carby, sugary foods to the curb. Don't be afraid of some healthy fats in your diet. It helps us feel satisfied longer, along with the protein.
Carby, starchy, sugary food keeps us from feeling satisfied, so we want to eat more and more. I could shove half a can of Pringles down my gullet, I have no doubt, but with 3 oz of chicken...I'm done eating for hours.
Deanna suggested the 5 day meat test. It's a great suggestion. I went with the meat and dairy option. It helped me get my butt back on track. I fell off if it a few weeks ago, and am back on as of yesterday.

when I get cravings at night, it's usually for dairy products (yogurt, cheese, sugar free fudgesicles), so I sometimes have to resort to taking my iron around 8:00 pm (instead of before I go to bed) so I can't eat calcium for 2+ hours. By then, the cravings have gone away.
another trick for me is to eat sugar free popsicles. I can't eat more than two because the sugar alcohol does a number on my stomach. So I eat two. Can't binge eat when my stomach's upset...
