12 year r&you post-op and the gut
I had a roux&y 12 years ago and my stomach and bowl seems to be starting to act up more over the last few years. I have obnoxious noises in my belly, burp after every sip of water or nibble of food, sharp pains often and I am lucky if I have a BM 4 times a week.
I am not constipated, I just do not have to go very often. Anyone else have anything similar going on so long after surgery?

Gastric distress after RNY usually happens when you are eating too many starchy or simple carbs like crackers, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, sugar, etc. Without knowing what you are actually eating, it's hard to answer this question.
You still could be constipated. Going only 4 times a wee is not the norm.

Carbs are carbs...brown or white... they will give you issues. Try eating only protein and non starchy veggies for a week and see how you feel. The other culprit is often times sugar alcohols in sugar free foods. If the sugar substitute ends with the letters "itol" ( like maltitol) it will cause stomach and intestinal distress.
About a year and a half ago, I started having some sharp pains in my midsection, and along the left side of my torso. I didn't think I could be constipated because I was regular. My "time to go" signal was intense pain that would dissipate after I'd had my potty time.
I went to my surgeon. They thought maybe gastritis. I kept having pains and I was really bloated by that point. A CT scan was ordered. I went and had the procedure. Turns out, I was full of "it". It was all along my large intestine. I didn't have a full blockage, but it was still enough to really freak me out.
Hopefully, you can reach out to your surgeon, or whoever you've chosen for post-op care and get in to see them and tell them what's going on.
Good luck.

Burping, gas, pain and constipation are symptoms of IBS-C. Google that. Google SIBO.
As RNY we don't make enough acid - that can create a perfect conditions for bacteria overgrowth in small intestine.
