question about bloodwork results
I had my family checkup the other day and he took standard bloodwork...I'll go to my gastric surgeon in the fall...but something weird popped up.
My glucose is 88...which perfectly is fine...but my ac1 is 5.7, which is borderline prediabetic. Any suggestions on how to deal with that? How do I get the a1c to change?
Also my iron was 20 and my ferritin was 10...i take multi with iron but no extra iron. Is this where a patch would help with absorption?

You should see a hematologist right away for your ferritin. You could take a crapload of extra iron, but you have very little chance of bringing it up much without an infusion. You'll suffer from constant fatigue, and worse, until you do.
A1C is an average blood sugar reading for the past approximately 90 days. 90 days is the lifespan of a red cell. Old red cells die, new ones are created. My guess is, in another 30, 60, and especially 90 days, your A1C will be in line with your new daily blood sugars. All you can do is wait.

the weird thing about the glucose is it's never run over 100...any time I've ever had it checked. I'll call a hematologist now. Thanks! My doctor just said eat more iron rich foods and take iron supplements. He is aware of the RNY.

It depends on how often you test. A single test is a snapshot. An A1C is a 90 day average -- millions of snapshots.
An A1C of 5.1 is equivalent to a blood glucose of 100. If you have a steady blood glucose of 100, every minute of every day (impossible), your A1C would be 5.1
If your blood glucose was 50 half the time, and 150 the other half, you would also have an A1C of 5.1

how many carbs/ sugars do you eat a day?
I don't eat sugar but I've slipped onto the carb wagon lately. Bread.
bread turns into simple sugar as soon as it hits your mouth, where digestion starts. The simple sugar gets into the blood stream very quickly.
Mid you eat bread, this is likely why your A1 c is borderline.
When I was diabetic, bread spiked my blood sugar faster and higher than a piece of chocolate cake. Even so-called healthy whole grain bread.
Stop it.
