Loose Skin Question with Photos
I have lost 119 pounds since my RNY in October 2015. I am nine months out and am a few pounds below goal. I am really happy with the weight/size I am now. I think this will be a good set point for me for life. However, I have lots and lots of loose skin. My arms, my tummy, my buttocks, my thighs, and even my neck. When I lay down in bed at night I swear I feel the "puddle" of extra skin outlines my whole body like police chalk lines.
On the bright side, I noticed that over the last few weeks my boobs are sort of firming up and have a less loose hanging appearence. They aren't "full" or anything but the folds of loose skin seem to be recovering to a smoother shape.
Here are two photos to give you a sense of what I've got going on.
Here I am all wearing my size 6 pants and doing pretty good. No compression garments or anything, just doing my thing. Weight this morning 146.
This is the behind the curtain reality of the skin.
My question is, have any of you had skin look like a crazy 'raisin' kind of thing (what I have going right now) and then had it improve over time? I read online that skin can tighten up for as much as a year but I don't know if that is real or just a theory. Any personal experiences would be great to hear about. Anyone else have this going on? Is plastic surgery my only real option?
Thanks,
~Elizabeth

Congrats on your weight loss. I'm pre-op so no personal experience. I would think though that there will be some improvement. Everything I've read says to wait until 1.5 to 2 years before doing plastic surgery.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
Thank you! I am definately going to have to wait. If nothing else to save up money! LOL
Best wishes,

i have extra skin on abdomen, neck, a small amount on stomach, a lot on thighs (they were super heavy before) and arms. The thighs, abdomen, and NECK bother me the most. Mostly the neck- I look like a damn turkey.
I will hope for the best as I'm 7 months out. maybe it will snap back- maybe i will start saving for plastics if it bothers me enough.
Fingers crossed right? I hope it does tighten up. If not we can do plastics together!

I'm with ya on the neck... and I've only lost 53lbs so far! Ugh, I wonder if it's not partially because of my age.
Are they successful with neck surgery? Seems all the older stars look great until you get to the neck.
I do know that there is a cream waiting to be approved by the FDA that will tighten that stuff up immediately. It has no long term effects, but we can be like cinderella and leave them home as princesses... just get home before the stuff wears off I'll keep ya'll posted. I have a friend in Chicago that's keeping a close eye on the progress of this miracle cream!
