What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning everyone! Sorry about your vertigo, AV. I've never had anything like that before, I had brain surgery when I was 13 and was dizzy for a long time, but not to the point of it being debilitating. I imagine that sucks big time.
I saw my surgeon yesterday, and my diseased gallbladder comes out next Friday. I haven't felt well for 2 weeks, I chalked it up to moving, being over tired from work, eating some **** I wasn't supposed to but apparently, that's not it. I'm such a baby, you guys. He assured me that this is MUCH easier than the bypass, but I hate surgeries and hospitals nonetheless, all because of the IVs. My neck is still sore from the weekend. It will be nice to feel better though, and to stop throwing up all the time.
QOTD: I'm 5'7" and a solid 9.5 in shoes.
I didn't eat much yesterday. I'm sticking to broth and yogurt, stuff like that - anything else causes me some serious pain. I read somewhere that peanut butter is supposed to make your gallbladder feel better, but eating spoonfuls of that is NOT a habit I want to get in to. It's an addiction.
You will feel SOOO much better after it's out and your surgeon is right. My gallbladder surgery was a piece of cake (LOL, my surgeon used those words and I told him it was rude to mention cake to a carb deprived post op!). My surgery was at 8:30 and I left the hospital at 12:30. Home by 1:30 and on a plane for a business trip 4 days later. Good luck!!
I'm not sure at all that peanut butter would help your gallbladder... it starts producing (and thus, causing pain) when we eat fats...
At any rate, I had mine out when my son was an infant... the pain from that gallbladder was worse that child birth, and I had an epidural!!! You will feel so much better about 10 days after surgery. It really does heal up quickly.
I did, however, have issues with going to the bathroom... as in, very loose, OMG, move outta my way, I gotta go NOW, issues... they did pass after several months after your liver gets used to picking up the slack... but I don't know if that will happen with you since you've had RNY. Hopefully not!

The pain was so awful this weekend, I didn't know if I was just being a wuss or what, but I was in tears. I compared it to being in labor too, the way in came in waves across my back. It was terrible. It's funny how much better it is today, of course, they gave me pain pills and I'm SUPER careful about what I eat, but it's amazing to me. I find myself questioning... "hmmm, maybe I don't need the surgery". But I know I can't handle a repeat of Friday and Saturday.
My surgeon did mention the possibility of pooper issues, fingers crossed everything goes OK. With my luck, I'll probably crap my pants at work.
Thank you for all the information and taking the time to give me insight, I love this board
