Plant based vs. traditional diet is a big area of disagreement among the physicians where I work.  My thought is that no eating plan works if you can't sustain it.  Both approaches have merit, and it is good to hear a variety of opinions. In the end, we have to choose what works best for us.

I agree. You can make plant based or meat based work, as long as it is sustainable. But what struck me was the pasta, bread, and potatoes. I think those things are a recipe for disaster. I'd be gaining instantly on those things. They may be plant-based, but they won't work for the formerly morbidly obese.

Hey, donuts are a plant-based food too.

Since the physician advocated not eating processed foods, refined carbs, etc, I am assuming he means whole grains instead of white bread and white flour pasta.  Plus, limited potatoes in themselves aren't bad.  Fried potatoes or baked potatoes with butter and sour cream are.  Still, we know if even those complex carbs will send us down a dangerous path, and should decide what is most likely to help us be successful. No matter what path we take, vigilance is key.

People that wear sandals that don't fit their feet drive me bonkers too! I want to ask them if it hurts!!! Do you think they cram that same foot into closed toed shoes in the winter like that???

Morning Everyone!  So sorry AV that you weren't feeling well yesterday. I have never had vertigo, and it sounds terrible!  Hope you are back to 100% soon.  Also, congrats to the boy, and fingers crossed for a great game tonight!

Today is the third and final day of my clear liquid diet.  My procedure is at 1:00, so I have to start drinking my final 64 oz of gross prep crap in an hour.

This process has been interesting.  I have found that I have not been hungry at all during this clear liquid diet.  I have wanted to eat, for sure, but I was never hungry.   What that is telling me is that I cannot depend on hunger cues to determine when and how much to eat.  It will likely be head hunger driving me.  Instead, I need to keep doing what I have been doing.  Eat according to a schedule, and measure and weigh food.

QOTD:  I am 5'7" and wear a size 9. I got up to a 9-1/2 - 10, but am now back to a 9.

The only meal I will have today is dinner.  I want pizza, but will have an omelette instead.  See?  I can't trust my head.

Have a great day everyone!

Today is our last full day in Lake Lure, NC. I gotta say guys,  i am really loving this place.

I've been pretty bad on my vacation,  but haven't made myself sick in days,  so it's not been that bad.

KQOTD: i am a measly 5'3", and i wear a size 8 shoe.  But it's an 8eee, because i have really wide feet, so it can be hard to find things that for properly.  My feet have been called "Ronald McDonald" feet, can you see why?

Food

B: 1 egg, 1 bacon and a biscuit with sausage gravy and coffee with cream and splenda.

That's all so far.  Audrey, the hag that needs coffee and get hubby areare driving an hour to spend the afternoon here with us.  Not sure what we're going to do.  We may sit at the pool, or do touristy stuff.

Here is what I'm currently doing...
