What's On Your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Happy Monday. AV-Your son'**** sounds awesome! Hopefully his great playing continues on to game 2 (but with a different result)! It was a very expensive weekend for me. My washer and dryer died at the exact same time. What are the odds? Went to Lowes to pick out a new set and am having an electrician out today to see if it's something with the outlet. And I bought new running shoes! Can't wait to break them in. So jealous of Daisy's trip to meet the Grims Looks like you all had an AMAZING time!
KQOTD: I worked at Macy's throughout college. Selling jewelry. Worst part: The night we were robbed; Best part: Christmas. I know I'm crazy but I loved working retail at Christmas . . . we didn't work on commission, so it didn't matter, but I was a GREAT salesperson!
Food: I'm day 3 into my last week of pureed/soft foods and would KILL for a piece of chicken. It's odd, in the 2+ years I had my sleeve I never had any food get "stuck." I had salmon and a couple of tablespoons of quinoa last night, and something definitely got stuck. I had to walk around a while for everything to head in the right direction. I still have my swallowing issue (as a result of the acid, I have poor swallowing function . . . it's supposed to improve with time), and I'm hoping it was just that, and not a sign of things to come.
B: protein shake
L: Tuna salad, babybel cheese
D: Lemon garlic salmon
S: cottage cheese, skinny vanilla latte and yogurt if I'm hungry and/or need extra protein
Totals: Cal. 710; Protein: 98g; Fat: 19g; Carbs 42g
Hey Stacy! Not to chime in here, but the two things that my RNY pouch cannot handle are quinoa and falafel! They make me projectile vomit and feel SO sick. So I wonder if it will be the same for you? I hope you have a short list of things that bother you - mine is a short list :) Glad you are recovering and feeling good!

I do okay with quinoa but God help us all if I try to swallow rice...

Quinoa for the win! There's a restaurant by me that makes it with chopped zuchini, carrots, broccoli and peppers and it is SO GOOD. I don't eat lots of it, but I like it every once in a while. I've had rice once since my VSG (none since revision) and it went ok. Will probably go back to no rice once I'm cleared for all foods.

Trader Joes has a frozen quinoa with chopped veggies which is really good and takes zero prep except for popping in the microwave:)

YAY!!!!! No reflux is awesome!!
When I had my Manometry and pH monitoring tests before my revision, I had 10 out of 10 failed swallows when drinking water. I had 8 out of 10 failed swallows when they added in apple sauce, so my swallowing ability was definitely impacted by the acid (that's my surgeon's theory anyway, the GI doctor who did my testing said I could have had the issue since birth) My surgeon seems to think that my swallowing issue will resolve. I hope it does!!

I had severe GERD with the band and when I revised to RNY it went away for about 10 months (no meds needed), but it's starting to creep back, so keep an eye out and head straight to the doc if your symptoms start to reappear!
