Vitamins

I had my surgery back in September of 2012.  I have moved away from my Surgeons office and sadly have fallen away from what should have been routine by now.  One thing I know I need to start doing again is being more conscious of my vitamin intake.  I have moved multiple times since 2012 and cannot find any of my post-op paperwork.  Could someone give me a run down of the vitamins I need to be taking and how much of each please.  I realize nobody here is a physician - but generally speaking - where should I start until I can get into my physician.

I take a multivitamin 3x a day

calcium citrate 500 2x a day

d-3 (dry) once a week

b-12 sublingual once a week

many take iron but I don't have to per my plan. i get iron infusions when needed

I would get back on your vits asap, ive heard some note good stories of people not taking them and having issues.

best of luck

I'm in a similar position as original poster. I was told originally (2011) to take B 50 complex because the rewiring meant my body couldn't absorb any B vitamins. At one point they cut me back from every other day to once a week. Are you not taking any other B vitamins other than B 12?

Friendly suggestion:  if you contact the center where you had WLS and request post-op guides, they likely will (e)mail them to you.  Friendly warning:  your words, "have fallen away" may mean special supplement needs instead of following a typical daily regime.  When you do see get your medical appointment, please insist your vitamin and iron levels be calculated in the event you may need, for example, prescription strength Vitamin D, iron infusions, and/or B12 shots.

Thank you - I just sent an email to my surgeons office.  I also plan to request the complete shebang blood work up when I visit the Doctor.

I take one optisource 4x a day. That is all. If you go to bariatriceating. Com they have a list of all the things your blood work should check as a bariatric patient. I would take it with you to your PCP.
