6 weeks out.. food ideas?
I can't say I remember exactly what I was eating at 6 weeks out but I know that I was sick of liquids, shakes, and yogurt. I wanted so badly to try to eat real "normal" foods but my advice to you is to NOT do that. Don't rush yourself. Play around with shake ideas, add a little fruit for flavor, make them icey to remind you of a shake, those options are much better than the 3 bites of pizza I would try when that's what was available and make myself sick. I'm also not sure what your doctor advises but I still don't do a lot of pre-made shakes or yogurt but I eat a lot of jerky (all kinds of meat), salads with grilled chicken added, string cheese, and I love flavored tuna packets. I had 3 moments of eating something that I said, nope that isn't even going down well and I'll probably never be able to eat that again. Pizza is one of them, along with white bread, and rice. I literally had a bite or 2 of those things at one time in the last 3 months and have no desire to ever look back. The nauseated feeling I felt was enough to make me not forget when or where I ate those things! I'm glad my body refused to take it but I wish my will power would have been stronger to not try. Although, the reaction to those foods makes it super easy to turn away from all carbohydrates other than veggies. Good luck to you :-)
Ricotta cheese with low carb low sugar marinara and tiny bit mozzarella cheese, eggs, hormels turkey chili with tiny *****eddar cheese (in can), tiny pieces cut up rotisserie chicken blended/pureed, really any meat pureed worked, of course 2 protein shakes per day (if I was able to get them in), sugar free popsicles, water water water sip sip sip. Check out bariatriceating. com for some recipies too they have a lot for each stage.
I ate fat free refried beans with salsa and cheese, turkey bacon with gravy pureed, eggs soft scrambled with ricotta, recotta/low sugar pasta sauce/cheese
if you can - do a search and you will find good ideas.
i also cooked some salmon and pureed that with fat free cram cheese for a mousse. it was good
i would stay far, far away from fruit, and anything white bready or potatoes.
I was 6 weeks out on Monday but my doctor has already progressed me to the "normal" baratric diet (Last week). So I have been eating ham, grilled chicken, I did pulled pulled pork last night. I have been trying veggies in small amounts (cooked carrots, green beans). During the day I'm still doing protein shakes for breakfast (I can't eat enough at the moment to get my protein in) and yoguart and beans, cheese sticks (soft foods still) for lunch (Want to make sure I'm eating something that I know agree's with my pouch while I'm at work). I have been trying to try different things at dinner when I'm at home so I know what kind of reaction I'll have. So far nothing has made me sick (knock on wood). It's small amounts. I've been weighing my food and cutting it small and making sure I chew really really well. My favorite so far has been grilled chicken nuggets (I purchased from chic-fila)
I was on regular food by 4 weeks and then salad at 6 weeks. Transition to denser food was harder than I thought. For me beef was easier, chicken had to be thighs. Main thing is make sure it is moist and it is OK to add a little gravy or condiment. Also the crockpot can be good or pressure cooker as they keep things moist.
