Second post of the day, sorry just having an issue with dr
Don't let this derail you!!!
You still have a tool... an innovative tool at that! You are healthier without the band, and you ARE losing.
Now that you're aware of this, just use the information as a tool to help you. Don't try to learn to eat until you feel restriction. Measure your food and go on. I'm guessing that the gherlin hormone is still in the part of your stomach that isn't working, so the hunger pangs won't be there for a while...
I'm sorry this happened though... They really should be required to discuss any variations with the patient.

So capacity-wise, how much more does your pouch hold? I believe the standard RNY pouch is about the size of an egg.
I also do not believe it will make a difference in the long run. I can eat far more than most of my RNY friends, but I chose not to most of the time. It's all about the healthy habits we incorporate into our lives.

He said that the pouch usually gets larger over time and makes eating more comfortable and he just started me out that way, so I'm assuming it will get even larger . I hope this is not the case. He did not mention volume that it would hold, but we went over his recommendations again and he said 1 cup of food and advised me not to continue eating under 1000 calories. I had dropped them down to see if that would help but he didn't like that.

Keep it under 1000 in the losing stage. Ask most the people who lost 100% of Excess weight- they kept it under 1000. Mine was lower in the beginning of course, but then kept it at 750-950.
That is frustrating. As Laura said important to develop good habits.

I would be just as frustrated as you are at this time. That said, now that you know be diligent to weigh your food and NOT overeat, make sure your getting your protein and water in daily. Make sure your "cutting" out your "trigger" foods that have kept you obese to begin with and take this first 12 months to "retrain your brain" that you don't need those foods to "get through the day". If you follow those rules of thumb you have a better chance at long term success.
I too with my revision do not have the normal full feeling like I see others do.
Either my Dr. made the pouch bigger, or it is less sensitive due to years of wear from pain and throwing up.
Either way it is a tool and i cannot depend on the full feeling, but must measure and track closely the rest of my life. So far I feel great and no longer having gerd really makes me happy I did this.
I hope you find your sweet spot to manage, and will the results, no matter how long it takes.
I keep copies of all my medical records and so have my surgery notes outlining exactly what he did.
Regardless of how small our pouch is after surgery, they're all designed to stretch over time. Good habits now are what will keep you a success in the future, not the size of your pouch.

I would be so pissed. This isn't music class or art class where he gets to ad lib things, this is YOUR BODY.
Is this malpractice? I honestly dont know if it is, but I am putting it out there because you went in there and expected one thing, and he just "changed his mind" and decided to do "whatever" WITHOUT disclosing it to you. Seriously. Watch my 600 lb life. Dr. NOszardan tells people, I want to give you RNY, if Iopen you up and find you are a bad candidate I will try to do the sleeve".
What he doesnt say is "Sign here. Sign there. You are getting RNY" and puts people to sleep looks at the camera and say "Hey! I am feeling whimsical today! Lets do a new cool design in there! I am SOOOO creative today!"
OMG. I swear this has to be some sort of malpractice. In the very least, you were LIED TO. The SIN OF OMMISSION. THat your pouch is DIFFERENT wasnt disclosed.
