Worsening Pain 10 Months Out

I  have absolutely no doubt that they become less effective the longer you take them.  I actually watched my grandfather take percocet several times a day for years until he died in order to manage his diabetic nerve pain.  I didn't want to go out like that, which is part of the reason why I had the surgery.  (I can't take percocet, though, it shuts down my lungs and I can't breathe--there's too much of the oxycodone component in it at one time for my system.)  When I was responding to another post I realized that after I "dried out" for a month in February, it really has only been 4 months since I went from 0 to 15 mg a day which means it is ramping up quickly.

I am very interested in what she is saying about neuroinflammation.  When I took brain and behavior in my undergrad (everyone should take that, hands down) we talked a lot about serotonergic and dompaminergic pathways and how many neurotransmitter imbalances can be linked to physical symptomontology.  It would absolutely follow, then, that treatment for mood disorders--which are the definition of neurotransmitter imbalance, improper binding, improper structuring--would treat physical symptoms!  That is also what medications like Lyrica are meant to treat and why they have to be labeled as antidepressants.  I have already been though most of the gammut that she is describing, but I would have to start over when my new insurance vests to be able to get a consultation with her.  Wow, this would be great, though.  I wouldn't qualify under a psychiatric definition right now for the medications she's talking about so I would have to find a doctor here that would agree with her or convince my insurance to have her treat me.  I am definitely book-marking this for November.

Thank you so much! ^.^

I had RNY in 2005 from my experience and doctors Tylenol is causing pain and I speak from experience on that !! It will cause terrible spasms in your upper stomach area almost feels like chest pains. Will also cause pain in the lower stomach . If you have to keep taking the Tylenol take Maylox with it it will help a lot. My dr have warned me that using a lot of Tylenol can lead to ulcer issues. I was taken off all the probiotics and told to take multi vitamin calcium supplement and vitamin D and Miralax ....It took a week or so but I took the Miralax everyday and all of a sudden everything started functioning on its own. Dr said my body was becoming lazy and had to have all those probiotics and gas meds and all to work so I had to make my body start working on its own. I'm am not in the medical field what so every I'm just telling you what I went through and how my dr helped and I had to search for one that was expierenced and knew enough to treat a person after WLS. I Find most Dr. don't realize you need some special considerations after WLS they just choose to pretend you didn't tell them??? I also have done a lot of research on my own and having found my dr that realize I am a RNY person with the pain meds I had to go to a different medication all together because the meds were going through my body before they could be absorbed so maybe that's why you feel more pain is because you body can't absorb the meds in enough time before they get to far through your intestines. Talk to your Dr about trying something that has a trans dermal delivery method or something like that . I hope this may help some just stuff I have expierenced over the years. I'm praying for you !!! I hope you feel better soon!!!!

Byrdsnest,

Thank you for your post.  I was telling another user that I take the Tylenol more as ritual to say that I'm trying it because it's generally understood by the medical profession that if you're not trying it you must be drug-seeking.  I honestly don't see a difference between when I take it or don't.  I have just been taking it so long now since the surgery that it really is ritual.  After the bar I will stop taking it as part of HALA B's suggestion of the low FODMAPs diet to see if it helps.

I know my vitamins and minerals are getting absorbed because I dissolve them in a hot cup of water every morning.  It's absolutely terrible but I know I'm at least getting them in.  I just can't afford the $60 a month in liquid vitamins it would take to replace them on top of everything else.  (The bariatric advantage ones made me sicker than a dog before I got the surgery, I can't imagine what they would do to me now other than kill me.)  I also know the oxycodone is breaking down because I get very warm about 10 minutes after taking it, so it is fully dissolving.

I don't do the chewable probiotics but I do kefir and GoLive powdered probiotics for a minimum of 15 billion CFUs a day.  From what you're saying, though, your doctor suggested that the probiotics were part of the reason that you weren't feeling well?  Maybe I need to back off of my probiotics, as well, see if that helps.  I have constant nausea, bloating, and gas that is just never-ceasing no matter how bland, little, or on-target I get.  I am wondering if this might be part of my problem.

I really don't want to go the trans-dermal route.  I really don't want to be on any pain killers at all.  I already had to get an exception to sit for the bar being on what I am now and will have to continue to get exceptions to re-license every year.  If there is any way for me to get off of all of it I want it out of my life forever.

Thank you for your insights! ^.^
