What is on your Monday Menu RNYers?
I have diverticulosis, but have never had an actual case of diverticulitis. I did have colitis once, which may have been the same thing as diverticulitis, since I was diagnosed with diverticulosis after my colonoscopy AFTER the bought of colitis. (sorry if that is confusing, lol) The colitis was one of the most painful things I have ever felt, and it was frustrating for me because I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain, and I had recently had a first trimester miscarriage, and they kept pushing it that I was just in pain from that. Or that I was constipated. I know what constipation feels like, and I had to fight the doctors there to do a CT scan. The ER doc actually apologized to me once they got the results of the CT, and I think that the nurses in the ER were all shocked that I actually had something wrong with me. I believe they thought that I was just there to try to get pain meds.
I'm so glad you're feeling better!
Luckily both of my cases they have caught, but they have both been acute cases. Last time I was able to escape with just meds, but due to the short time frame between them and the bypass they locked me up. I've had diverticulosis for a long time before ever having a flare up. I think that high-protein low fat diet actually is worse for it so it just counts against me, I will be more diligent with some miralax at the first sign of constipation from now on, because from what I gather that is what starts the flare then food gets stuck causing the full infections. I pray you never have to go through it.

Good morning! I laughed when I read about the weigh-in tips. Lighter shoes, lighter clothes, not eating. I still will only weigh myself first thing in the morning, no clothes, before anything goes into my body ;-) ! One of the things I find makes a huge difference in weight loss is drinking water. If I drink my 2L of water every day, I feel better and the weight comes off more quickly. Here,s something that one of my many weigh****cher leaders said (I did weigh****chers too many times to count) : Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. I try to repeat this to myself when my husband's eating chips .
B- canadian bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, coffe with light cream

L- Spinach and tuna salad
S - 2% greek yogurt
D- Chicken thighs and green beans
S- turkey bite and cheese string

Hi Cyndy and Menu peeps! Congrats on your PS Cynthia!! So happy and excited for you!!! You are blessed to have the friends (who are like family) to be there with you, that is just wonderful!! And I love that you are doing this for yourself!! You are already a bombshell but I get you wanting to look and feel a certain way. I am seriously considering a boob jog. I have a very good girlfriend who had very large breasts, but she is tiny and she just recently in the last two months had a breast reduction due to the pain etc she was in on her back and neck. She told me the PS surgeon she was amazing and I must say her breasts are outstanding (yes she showed me), she did not have WLS she just had very large breasts on a tiny frame, so I might book a consult with this guy. For me that is the body part that bothers me the most, my breasts, then my butt, I would love a butt job! LOL
QOTD: I remember when I did WW years ago they told us this phrase " BLTs" Bites, Licks, & Tastes!! We all lie to ourselves by saying "oh I only ate three meals today and I can't figure out why I am not losing weight" yet we forgot to mention we had 12 Wether's candies, had a bite of our spouses cheesecake, and licked the icing off the knife as we frosted a cake. That has always stuck with me. So now I track my food in MFP, I weigh my food on my scale, and if I do have a BLT I record it at the end of the day, those kind of things ADD UP!!!
Here is my breakfast from yesterday, I had 2.4 ounces of turkey kielbasa that I bbq'd. This is a favourite of mine on my menu, I eat this for a meal sometimes with a scrambled egg and often for a snack in the evening, its really filling!
Today is Part 2 of my Iron Infusion, I am being infused right now as I type this. It was going well and then my IV went interstitial, which basically means the IV fluid/iron went into the surrounding tissues of my arm instead of in the vein. It started to hurt like a bugger and then I looked down at my arm where the IV was in the vein and I had this huge hard lump forming about the size of a tennis ball in diameter, so I called the nurse, she stopped the IV, took it out right away of that arm (left arm) and now the IV is in my right hand, the vein right on top of my hand, feels so much better!! I have a lot of pain on my left arm where it was and the lump is still there, it will go down and I will probably have a nice big bruise. Oh vey!!! I did have a bit of a reaction to the Iron last time so I have already warmed my husband that I might be crawling into bed when I get home so he has to make dinner LOL
Time since surgery: 2 years + 8 months
B: coffee with miralax & half a mission one protein bar while getting the Iron Infusion
L: can of solid white tuna over salad greens with balsamic dressing
S: nada
D: if I am up for it, but last time I slept through dinner, will bbq salmon filet with balsamic dressing
S: if I am up for it, 4 pieces of bbq turkey kielbasa

I hope the rest of your infusion goes well. I had three iron infusions last summer so I know what you're experiencing. Luckily, my iron hasn't crashed down to where it was last year. I'm on the low end of normal right now so I may need an infusion within the next couple of months. Oh well, just part of having the surgery.
