What's on your Sunday menu, RNYers?
on 7/17/16 5:34 am
I got a private message from someone asking if anyone can post on the menu thread, so I just thought I would start off the post today to say: YES! This is not a private club! I think it is great to hear from people in all stages--pre-op, post-op and vets. It is valuable to help stay on track, and valuable to get ideas from others. So I hope lots of people will post today! Welcome to any newbies!
Yesterday, I realized just how much last week kicked my butt. I am generally not a napper, but I really am not kidding when I tell you that I took about 6 small naps, then I fell asleep in the middle of Ghostbusters and never woke up. And then I slept late again this morning. Yikes. So, sorry, Ms Schwab, I can't really give an accurate movie review... ;)
QOTD: Do you work? What is your job like? Can you leave it there, or do you take work home with you? I generally keep work at work, except for emails and emergencies, but today I have a pile in front of me that I must get done. I like what I do, so I'm not too annoyed, but I do wish I could have another day of napping and not face it! One more week of craziness for me, then I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just in time for a visit from Daisy! Yay!
...1 year post op next week, and today I'm within my maintenance goal of 113 - 118 at 116...
8am: Fit Frappe Spiced Chai Protein Latte (mmmm!)
11am: Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt with 1/2 scoop of Syntrax Mint Cookie
2pm: Forte High Protein Gelato
5pm: Almonds and Cheese Stick
8pm: Coconut Breaded Chicken Tenders
Have a great day!

The more the merrier I say too,JB! Getting ready to head up to church to run through music and set up for coffee hour so this will be quick! Lily and I have our 3.2 miles in already and I will do another 1.25 at least after dinner. Post op 46.5 months and weight at 119.2 today. QOTD I don't work except for all my volunteer stuff:pianist at church, certified lay speaker, food pantry director, helper at senior meals and basically anything else that needs done. Here's the menu for the day B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese 1/2 c tomatoes D 31/2 oz hamburger patty 1/2 c green beans S mission one chocolate brownie protein bar. Hope everyone has a great day and makes some amazing choices!
What is the brand name of the brownie protein bars you eat and where do you get them? Thank you.
They are mission 1 protein bars and I get them at Walmart. I like them because they have no sugar alcohols like most bars and the sugar alcohols tend to make me bloated. I use them only at bedtime as an easy bedtime snack to keep my sugar from tanking overnight. They come in 3 flavors: brownie, chocolate chip cookie and cookies and cream.
Thank you. I will look for them, but maybe when I'm a little further out. Right now I'm only 6 weeks post op as of today. Progress, not perfection.
I just got some of these last night after remembering your post. I think the zero sugar alcohols made it sit better in my tummy. I liked them, but did not "love" them. I will be sticking to these, though, because the ones I love tend to make me want them more- like candy bars. These will just be my emergency bars when I do not have time to eat. Thanks for sharing!!
