DeCaff Coffee I always drink 1% milk before. I wonder if I could still drink 1% in coffee replacing cream or almond milk.

I either combine one of the following in my morning decaf, premier protein shake, fairlife skim milk or sugar free flavored creamer (I use carnation)

I usually drink leaded coffee with half and half.  You should be able to replace the cream with 1% milk or almond milk. Ask your nut or dietician to be sure, of course. ( My dietician was funny, she did not want me drinking almond milk; she wanted me to drink soy-but that was a big "Nope!" for me. ) A lot of people, as was mentioned, use their protein shakes as creamer. ( I did that for over a year, but got away from drinking shakes often. )

Recently, I have started replacing some of the half and half with unsweetened cashew milk and I really can't tell much of a difference. I love cashew milk; its flavor is more neutral than almond milk-and it's awesome in the cold brew coffee I'm obsessed with at the moment. ( I use the cold brew for iced coffee. )

Audrey I knew you had to respond to a post titled "Coffee" I am with you on the high test, and half and half... also a lover of the cashew milk over almond so I will have to try it with the cold brew iced coffee. Tried the Cold Brew from Trader Joes and loved it, bought some they had at Sam's club- meh. I returned it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I make my own. It's pretty easy. I just googled "how to cold brew coffee" and got lots of hits back. I used the instructions I found on chowhound.

I love cold brew coffee.  Did you see the SBUX has a cold brew kit thing?  It's basically a big old coffee teabag you put in a pitcher and steep in the fridge.  I have a pitcher that has a special filter thing for the grounds and that's what I use.  I have to do decaf though because I'll stay up all night otherwise.  I use the Peet's decaf--what do you use to make your cold brew?

Jen, no I haven't seen the kit from Starbucks! I'll check it out. It is kind of a pain dealing with the loose coffee grounds, but I don't trust cheesecloth as a "coffee bag" ( I've seen suggestions online ), and I hadn't gotten around to trying to find a bag for the coffee grounds, so I've just been dealing with them.

I've only used this so far because Sam's was out of my normal coffee ( 8 O' Clock Columbian Peaks ), and it's really great coffee. It's a darker roast.( My normal coffee may not work as well, I'm thinking. )  I plan on experimenting with different coffees...just because I can..hah!

Yeah, dealing with the loose grounds is a pain in the ass. I used to use a sieve and a paper towel. The thing I have now has like a mesh core thing that gets filled with grounds and goes in the middle of the pitcher to steep. Then you just take it out and empty that. It works out pretty well. I found it at the coffee bar at Nordstrom.

If you have a French Press, try using it for cold brew, it works great. Soak the coffee overnight and press it in the morning.

Drink whatever tastes good to you and fits in your plan... My Doc never said decaf was necessary and I've always used half and half...unless I am making myself a latte then I use Fairlife milk which is higher protein lower carb. I have always used regular milk.... I don't mind the taste of 1% or 2% if I was drinking it or in cereal... but in coffee? No.

I second Audrey that cashew milk is better than almond if you go that way. I buy the Silk brand unsweetened vanilla 25 calories a cup.
