Advice from a "veteran"----DO NOT EVER take NSAIDS!!!

Smoking is a huge factor in this story, don't want it to get lost in the don't take NSAIDs PSA.

Thank you so much for that cautionary tale.  I'm so sorry this happened to you.  I'm also grateful for your post because my Mom gave me a handful of muscle relaxers for neck pain... I think they are called Cyclobenzaprine - generic for Flexerall.  

I haven't taken any yet, but can't believe that I didn't even stop to find out if they are NSAIDs or not.  Wow - you might've saved me a lot of trouble.

Anyway, I've been googling muscle relaxers, and can't seem to find anywhere that says they are NSAIDs or not.

Does anyone know?

Hi Corrie33, Cyclobenzaprine, also known by the brand name Flexeril is a muscle relaxant medication used to relieve skeletal muscle spasms and associated pain in acute musculoskeletal conditions..It is not NSAID..It works with another mechanism..

With appreciation for your honesty, warning to others and sincere well-wishes for a better future.  I would ask you for your thought process for so many rule breakings but then I looked in the mirror and decided to ask that person instead.  

YIKES!  Thanks for posting this, I hope you're feeling better!   I never thought to put a warning in my medical records about NSAIDS - I'm going to have my doctor add it to my list of "allergies"!

When people ask me about not taking Nsaids I say not everyone will get an ulcer but it is like playing russian roulette - there is no way of knowing if you will be the one...
