What's On Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?

Karen I would not post if I did not care!!! Yes dense protein can be hard. But you have to keep at it. Any of the successful Vets here will tell you that some foods are trial & error. Something works today, might not tomorrow early out. Honestly cooking up a scrambled egg for breakfast and a slice of bacon takes 5-6 minutes. I am sure you have 5-6 minutes for that. If eggs don't agree with you, how about some sausages, how about mini meatloaf's (made from your lean hamburger you bought).
If you truly can't tolerate dense protein and you get sick then you need to make an appt with your WLS centre, it should not be that way and if there is something medically wrong with you then I want to see you get that fixed and be well. If you are just eating too fast or too big of bites then you need to slow down, take smaller bites, chew until the food is liquid in your mouth.
Do not give up on dense protein because you maybe had a bad experience. Take it slow, set alarms if you have too, use condiments, sauces, gravies. But make it work. Please for your success either finish whatever protein bars and micro meals you have or give them away to your local food pantry.
I am sorry you feel lazy and rarely cook. Well guess what girl, TOUGH LOVE here, start cooking and get off your butt. This journey is hard, I will admit that 1000 times over, but you can do it and I want to see you successful, we all do

Thanks Ginny. I don't know where you are in your journey I don't see your ticker but yes protein bars (IN MY OPINION) are really for those people that are years post op and have reached their goal weight and are having no problems maintaining their weight. Some of our menu posters and Vets on here won't touch a protein bar with a ten foot pole as its a trigger food for them, the bars are like candy bars so they avoid them and they do have a lot of calories and some bars have a lot of sugar alcohols and a lot of us can't tolerate sugar alcohols post surgery. There really is SO MANY more options for protein.
Karen is a wonderful lady and I wanted her to know I care and that I want to help, she was cool with my "advice", its all good!
Glad you have joined us on the menu thread, please stick around and ask any questions you want, we are always happy to help!
have a good one! stay cool in this heat wave we are having here in SW Ontario!

QOTD: This questions makes me REALLY question my friends and life choices. I cannot remember the last time I really, honest to God, had a laugh. How depressing, I love to laugh.

Do you have a lot of mature large trees on your property AV? I know quite a few people who have no A/C but they have large properties and have a lot of large mature trees that provide a lot of shade and they can make do with out A/C. We live in a young subdivision so no large trees and the sun beats down on our house, especially the back of our house is an oven, the brick on the back of our house is actually hot to touch. We keep the AC on all the time and on the cool side. I think its leftover from when I was big but I prefer to be cold so that I can throw on a sweater or hoodie versus sweaty hot. You have my sympathy LOL LOL
