Awful Side Pain

After flip-flopping back and forth for months, I had RNY on July 7. Everything went well and I only stayed 2 nights in the hospital. But now I have a lot of pain on my right side that it hurts to breathe. I called the doctor and they said it is a normal side effect. Has anyone else had this pain and if so, how long did it last?  I'm not walking like I should be because of this. Thanks!

you are not even a week out- your left and right side will hurt. sometimes my right hurt more and I had more bruising there also.

it also hurt bad when I tried to sleep- couldn't get comfortable. i slept in recliner or propped up in bed.

this is typical incision pain  a week after surgery. Are you taking your pain pills?

I have been taking my pain meds but not on a regular basis like when I first got home. I need to get back on that schedule. I thought I could try to go without them for longer stretches of time.

I know the pain you are talking about. Mine was on the left side and it scared me but I called the Dr and they said it was normal. I'm 5 weeks out today and I've had a pain in my left side all day.  You kinda get used to the aches and pains. I've heard you start to feel really good at month 4. Stay strong I know how hard those first couple weeks were for me.
