What's on Your (photo) Friday Menu, RNYers?
To answer your question, we received a teak cheese platter with glass dome almost 33 years ago. I make a cheese ball and use it all the time. Julie Pomerantz stuff was very popular back then...I think we received two of them. We didn't actually register, that was only for the upper class folks back then who were requesting china, etc. But that is definitely the one thing I use all the time. Used it on 4th of July weekend too.

great pic!
We still have the following 15 years later:
really nice drinking glasses
henkles knives (and I've cut myself several times, one time needing stictches)
silverware (reed & barton from macy's)
everyday dishes we have changed from a really ugly pattern to plain white so we can do different accent plates, etc to change it up
this wasn't on the registry, but I found the old vintage revere wear pots (with copper bottoms) and I'm in love with them. my mom still uses hers from the 1960-70's.
Happy Friday! Today I think I am going to cut out of work early. Why? Am I planning a grand adventure? Go afternoon drinking? Jet ski on the lake? Ohhhh no...no I am not. I am thinking of leaving early to do laundry. Yes, it is like that around here. I feel like this week went too fast.
QOTD: Special skill? Talking. Seriously. I'm a talker from way back. It is either that or eating pretzels. I'm fairly sure they will be the downfall of my personal Rome one day. Why??? Why are pretzels so frickin' easy to eat?? It is like they go somewhere other than my pouch. My only comfort is I've managed to eat almost the whole bag through the course of the week and I am determined NOT to buy anymore. They are indeed the devil.
Photo: Yes, really. This isn't even a scary spider. We have had several tarantulas, scorpions, and crazy random spiders in our house. A skink, a few hummingbirds, more deer than I can count, and various turtles show up in our yard. Moving to the Hill Country seemed like it would be lovely. Who knew it was wild kingdom??
Menu:
Nothing different. Greek yogurt, grapes/blueberries, cheese stick, rotisserie chicken for dinner. Uhg...probably finish the damn pretzels too. :P
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

I actually LOVE spiders! Here is my take on them, spiders make webs, webs catch all the nasty flying bugs like flies, flies are nasty. Circle of life baby
Fresh clean laundry is nice, I like doing laundry.
Don't get me started on Pretzels, I LOVE pretzels, nuggets of bready salty yumminess! Can't have them in my house, a total trigger food for me!!

You should have seen the dramatic scene I created in the grocery store when I bought them. I had my 19 yo and 18 yo daughters with me. I kept picking up the bag, reading the label AGAIN, putting it back and holding up my hand in a "No no go away foul demon" gesture, averting my eyes, then walking several feet away......then back to the bag REPEAT. The kids were about to die laughing at me but I was genuinely torn and tormented. I finally caved and bought them. It was a real #1 Mom moment. All week they have plagued me. Must avoid that whole aisle in the store from now on.
Spiders are good at eating other bugs I like less so as long as they aren't hairy or too big I try to leave them be.

The hill country is so beautiful though!!! I keep telling my spouse that one day if he can't find me, I'm running away, and that's where I'll be... there, or at a bar in Austin. hahaha!
At least daddy long legs can't bite you.
We live in the country up here. 5 acres of nothingness... an old wheat field is what our neighborhood used to be. I miss trees... and hills. We have more flies than you can ever imagine, a tarantula or three, various other bugs, spiders, and toads... but no deer around our property.

It is fun to see all the creatures but scorpions in the house is about to tip my canoe. They must remain outside! Period.
Come visit! OK isn't that far. We can go into Austin and not eat all the amazing things Austin has to offer. LOL We can take a smell-tour of local hot spots.
