Hello So this is weird for me because usually people come to me for advice I usually dont like posting my life but Im in a need o an advice. So, I'm schedule for surgery on September 22 2016 and when I went to the surgery doctor at the end of February I was 331lb I just came out of a regular doctor I weighted 338 and it has been weird cause Im not eating like I used to. So Im not sure if this has happened to anyone before. The only good thing is that my insurance is not tracking my weight but I still dont want to used this as an excuse to gain weight until my surgery day. Any good advice on what should I do.....

Have you cut out sugar and other processed carby foods from your diet? If not, this would be the ideal time to get a head start on changing your eating habits. ( You can start logging your food now too, to get into the habit. ) Monitor your carb ( bread, pasta, sugar, starchy veggies, any fried food ) intake and try to stay below say... 50 for now, or you could go full tilt and do Atkins induction and keep them at 20 grams or less per day.

If you've done all that and have gained weight, check your portion size.

Log everything you eat and drink into my fitness pal, and it'll give you an idea of how many calories and what portion sizes you're eating.

Part of the reason we all reached morbid obesity is that we have no idea what a proper amount of food is. We often think we are eating very little, but it is still a lot.

The best things I ever did was buy a 12 dollar food scale and sign up for a free account on MyFitnessPal. I just passed 1400 days of logging all my food. It's the only thing that ensures I don't eat too much.

I know the feeling when you don't THINK you've been eating much.

But you've gained 7 pounds. You ARE eating too much. That's why the only way to be certain is to weigh and track your food.

Are you eating three meals a day?!? If your not eating at all or just snacking throughout the day that's not enough to get your metabolism going. You should be eating 3 meals a day with at least 20 grams of pro turn in each meal and no carby foods like pasta, bread, crackers, anything that would turn to mush if you put it into water. But when you have surgery you have to eat three meals a day you can't skip meals. Try eating 3 meals a day with small portions and excersise for at least 30 minutes a day. See if that helps.

Different scales can certainly make a difference.  I weighed at my PCP's office later that day at the Allergist's office and weighed 9 pounds less.  A miracle?  I think not.  I went with my PCP's weight because that was the one I consistently weighed on.  Just a thought...

I wouldn't worry about it. I weigh differently on every doctor scale that I get on. From one scale to. The. Next, the weight is not going to. Be the same.

Look at the kinds of foods you're eating as well as the amount. I know for me, whenever I eat food that has a lot of salt in it, I retain water. Also keep in mind if you started a new exercise routine, sometimes the body will retain water till it gets used to your new routine.

I usually weigh myself in the morning, but by the time I get to the Dr, usually after a lot of walking & later in the day, the scale will be higher than it was when I weighed myself at home.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
