How do you get enough protein?

This week I graduated to soft foods - yay and goodbye to babyfood!  I'm now supposed to eat just 3 meals a day (no snacks) of 2-3 oz. at a time and each meal should contain approximately 20 grams of protein.   I haven't figured out a way to make that happen.  I've been adding in a protein shake throughout the day just to get my protein numbers up.  Any suggestions?

I don't think it is possible. That is why I don't think many nuts know what they are doing. I have a hard time getting in my protein eating every two hours every day.

Every doctor is different but most docs want you to have shakes that early to get protein in. That being said, if you trust your doc and trust his plan, stick to it. Me personally, I have found that doctors don't always know best and don't think about the larger pic. They are just focused on "don't eat other than meal times".

I couldn't do it without snacks. My doc was no snacks too, but it was impossible.

I get four meals of 4 oz a day and I have a hard time so I don't know how you could possibly do that.

Thanks for all the replies.  I think I'll stick with my added shake until food quantities increase a bit and I move onto more dense protein.  Even "good" protein sources like tuna only have about 14 g for 2 oz. so there's no way I'm getting 60 g of protein in 6 oz. a day.   I'm able to do it with the added shake, and sometimes for breakfast I have "protein coffee" : decaf coffee w/a scoop of vanilla protein powder.  With this plan I've been averaging about 500 calories, 60-70 g protein and 25-30 g carbs.

This sounds right to me. I had my surgery June 6th. My numbers are very close to yours. I have to have the protein shake. My clinic says to have 1 to 2 shakes a day to meet your protein needs for 3 to 4 months until you can get your protein from eating dense protein. .

During my soft food stage I was successful in reaching my daily protein goals and my appetite was satisfied by drinking my Premier Protein RTD, eating cottage cheese, refried beans topped with cheese, Eggface's Ricotta Cheese Bake, and drinking hot tea laced with Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder.
