I did it but...
About 6 yrs ago I had a total breakdown and my Dr pulled me from my ridiculously stressful job that nearly killed me. I never returned. I didn't have to guts to quit on my own because of the $ and benifits, but I should have before it got to the point it did. It seriously robbed me of my life, happiness, relationships and greatly contributed to developing /maximizing my many anxiety related issues.
Good for you !!!!!! life is short. Too short to be miserable!!!
Im curious.....Did losing weight help you gain the confidence to want better for yourself????
My confidence level is so high now, I would never let myself get into that nightmare again.
You won't regret it!!!! Enjoy the summer stress-free. ...hey and maybe the fall and winter too!!! Lol !!!!!

Congratulations for doing what you felt you had to do to feel better both mentally and physically! Absolutely, take some time off and enjoy your child.
On the other side of the coin, the way you went about quitting (no notice) may come back to bite you in the butt when and if you decide to return to the work force. When interviewing, you will be asked about these 10 years of employment. Obviously you won't want to use this past employer as a reference since he/she will say that you left without notice. A prospective new employer will not like getting that info and may not hire you for fear you will walk out again.
Maybe you can figure out a way so you don't have to work. Regardless, enjoy your summer!

Prayers for your MIL for a complete recovery. Savor your time with your kiddo as much as you can. They grow up so fast, way too fast.

Consulting is a tough career... I was a Executive Assistant to several partners and a couple of different consulting firms... I think they work the consultants to death! The stress is through the roof.
The fact that you made it 10 years is amazing to me.
Enjoy your summer with your daughter, and reevaluate when you're ready!
In the meantime, have a great time de-stressing!!!

I did something similar about five years ago. I worked for an insurance company... it was great for the first eight years, then they were bought out by another company. Instant s.t.r.e.s.s. I was having some other health problems and had taken short term disability a few times. Then I went on vacation for two weeks. Went back to work for one day... the stress was so bad I spent the day at my desk in tears. I left at 4:00 and told my supervisor I could not work anymore. I received long term disability and applied for Social Security Disability. I was approved. I was afraid I would have difficulties living on my reduced income, but I've managed to cut back on expenses and get by. I'm sure if you look at expenses you'll identify things that can eliminated or reduced.
Enjoy your Summer. You'll manage to get by.
Work should be fun and something you look forward to going to. Stress is hard on your physical and mental health. You did the right thing by walking away.
I have been wondering about your mother-in-law and how she is recovering.
I had open heart surgery in March and it took over two months for me to feel mostly recovered.
