New Member needing support
Hi all. I am new to site today and so glad I stumble across this forum. I am scheduled for RNY 7/13 and on Day 5 of liver shrink.
I am having a horrible time with i assume is the detox mode: excessive sweating, constipation, & absolutely no energy.
Im not hungty at all but what I wouldnt give for some salt & other spices and a nice cup o joe!
I am a single mom of a 5 year old praying I have made the right decision. I have support of my physicians and friends but sad my mom doesnt supporr me in this choice at all.
Any and all support is welcomed. I am certain you will be hearing a lot from me very soon.
Welcome. You will find that this is a really great place to get/give support and information. Of course you can ask any question that you like , but I just wanted to make you aware of some of the useful things on this site. You can type in any question in the search bar where you would make a post and you can read through years and years of questions that have been answered . Warning, you could be stuck on there forever reading and learning. Also, there is a feature on here under resources called post op planner that will give you a realistic number of pounds you can expect to lose month to month. I'm sorry your mom is not supportive but congratulations for taking this step to improve your life and health. It is life changing and I would say 99% of people that are on here and have gone before you will tell you that, their only regret is not doing it sooner.

Glad you are here, and as Sheri said there is plenty of support and information here.
Stick around, and good luck on your surgery.
No regrets here...

Welcome! Although I'm only five and a half weeks post-op, I can tell you that I would do this again in a heartbeat!! Stick to the pre-op plan, and before you know it, you'll be super excited about the weight you have lost even before surgery! I'm sorry that your mom is not being supportive. Perhaps she'll change her mind after she sees the difference in your health and quality of life. Good luck!

I don't know what your preoperative plan is so I can only tell you what I did. Of course there are the protein shakes. I was also allowed sugar free popsicles and broth/bouillon. I arranged my do called meals around them. I would have my broth as the main part then shake as dessert. Popsicles were the go to when needed. Missed my morning cup of coffee but it was worth it. I am 3 years post and actually 10 lbs. below my goal and 35 below what the surgeon classified as success which was too much for me as it was still in the obese range. My only regret is insurance won't pay for skin removal. I was very diabetic before taking insulin and another injectable daily, sleeping with a cpap and supplemental oxygen and had high blood pressure. All gone. Now if I could tame my clothes shopping I'd have it made! Love going to the smells and size 4s and have them fit. So hang in there and join us on the losers bench. The 13th will get here before you know it.
I am also a single mom and my kids were 3 and 5 when I had my RNY 8 years ago. I was terrified I would not be here to raise them to adulthood (and my family is crazy so I do not want to leave them with anyone else). That fact still keeps me on track. I'm not screwing this up.
Keep doing what you are supposed to do and it will all work out. Good luck!!
