Can I ask what made you take enough to go up to 1800 blood level on the B-12? I am at 1100 blood level. When I was at the 'normal' range of 500 I was having numbness in my fingers and toes. It is mostly gone, but every once in awhile crops up like tonight.

I take 2000 mcg per day, or 2500, depending on brand. If I can find the Spring Valley brand, I buy those-2500, but right now I have the KAL brand from Vitamin Shoppe. ( It's 1000, they had a limited selection ) They are quick to dissolve, as are the Spring Valley.
I've related this before, but the first time my labs came back with a B12 level > 2000, my surgeon was somewhat alarmed, and told me to cut back. I did, and my levels fell accordingly. I was eventually feeling sluggish and "blah". My iron levels at that time had been good, so I figured it had to be my B12 level. I bumped my dosage up again ( to the 2500 ), and my levels at next draw were in the 1800s. Doc wasn't quite as alarmed, but still concerned. I told her I just felt better when my B12 levels were high.
I took 5000 mcg for a long time, even before my surgery, but I feel good taking the slightly lower dosage, so I stick with it. I'm overdue on labs, so I don't have my most current numbers.

Just curious.... as the whole vitamin thing is a never ending evaluation like everything else... Just got alarmed last night when I had numbness all of a sudden...but it passed... I was taking 2000 a day (the ones from trader Joes) and cut back to 1000 a day when I went on the patch vitamin, as it has B-12 in it. Having my labs soon too, so we will see....

I totally understand, no problem at all. ( the disclaimer was really intended for any one who may think I was trying to influence you or anyone else. )
It is a life-long commitment, so we definitely need to notice how our bodies react to dosages of supplements and the like and adjust if needed. I hope the numbness goes away for you. I imagine it's a scary feeling.

Insist on them testing B6... Toxic B6 mimic low B12 - neurological issues... I.e numbness..

You must be suffering this awful b6 also. If not I am glad you are aware. The b complex vitamins and high dose of b6 is scary. We don't have the cyp450 enzymes to break it down. I so hope I can recover. Now that I have been toxic hard to keep level in range. I have reactions to everything. All this fortified food and vitamins will catch up on people
I am slowly recovering... I will know on Wednesday if n=my levels are normal.
When I heard about that - I got tested and my levels we 3-4x above normal... since then- 3 years- they are coming down... and I try to avoid B6 added to foods/drinks (i.e. Zero vitamin water). Last year my levels were just slightly (considering levels before that) above normal and my PCP was alarmed... I told him I am awared and that's why I need that to be tested...
some people have problem getting enough... some of us - have problem getting rid of too much)

You are so correct as to where you want your level. If I go high I burn and if I go low I burn. I was slightly low when I dr put me on 100mg a day. I had a tingle in the toes and then went to a full body burn.
I am 18 years post op and never had a problem until now. Wish that dr would have said eat extra bannanas or avacado instead of 100mg.
Anyway I am learning a lot from many fb groups on toxicity and hope to recover and keep close eye on this level. Gentle hugs to you.
Is that enough calcium? The ASMBS recommends 1500-2000 mg/d.
