What's on Your (photo) Friday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning all, I don't know if I even remember how to DO this. Things are finally settling into a rhythm after moving the library and setting up our temporary location(s) and I'm recognizing a major need to get back to #WLSlife - and by noticing a need I mean that my pants are far too snug.
Future Husband and I got engagement photos taken last week and we got a sneak peek! Annnnd - guess what I did last Saturday? Bought a wedding dress! I have to admit that it was pretty awesome to walk into the store and actually be able to try on any dress I want and (mostly) have them fit. Even still, I do have to wonder why in the world bridal designers haven't jumped on the vanity sizing bandwagon - when more than your wedding day would you want to fit into a "size" smaller than normal? I had to order my dress in a 16 for goodness sake! Weird.

PS. I was born in the 80s, I don't know these 70s folks. Ok, that's a total lie. Neil Young? Queen? Elton John? So many to pick from!

Hahaha!
Well.....it's PURPLE! Really eggplant I should say. I've said for ages I wanted to get married in a purple dress, but I did promise my sister and BFF that I would at least try on a traditional bridal gown, so I started off trying a ball gown style dress. As soon as I walked out of the dressing room my mom and sister were like NOPE - which of course I was too.
The dress is lace and chiffon. It has a tank style, v-neck top in lace. Natural waist with a flowing (but not big) chiffon skirt that is floor length.
I'll be wearing the necklace my grandmother wore in her wedding - my grandfather brought it home from Rome after WWII (they married 6 days after he returned). It's pewter with green stones and it is gorgeous with the eggplant, which was very important to me.
No pictures!

Love the pics! So happy for you... and Yay for fitting in a wedding dress!! even if designers are stupid ...LOL I do think Bridal Stores up the size though 'in case' you gain weight. They also make money on the alterations.
When my DIL married my son, her girlfriend had been a seamstress/alterer for David's Bridal...so she did her dress. She asked her "Are you going to be a bride who gains weight or loses weight? Because nobody stays the same.".....LOL

The pictures are wonderful! I am so happy for you. I love the idea of a purple wedding dress. Good for you for going with the dress you've always wanted.
European sizes always mess with my head. What do you mean I am a size 38? Noooooooo!
