Dumping Syndrome - with every food?
I had GBP in 2011 and got to my goal weight of 145, eating clean and healthy - with a bunch of fitness thrown in there. Surgery was un-remarkable and I had no complications until this year.
Fast forward to April of this year. I had a complex petersons hernia repair; and I've been a mess ever since.
I cant seem to keep any kind of food down - I've tried no diary, no sugar, no gluten - no vegetables, high fiber - low fodmap. Nothing works - I eat then within 5 mins I hear the food moving around in my body then within an hour it comes back out. I know maybe too much information, but it's like my bowels just release anything I eat. Before my hernia operation I was a very healthy 145-150 pounds and since April I'm down to 130 and have no energy to do anything. I used to work out 30-90 mins a day, had a very active and happy love life and productive work life - but this problem with eating food and then going to the bathroom right away has basically ruined my life. When I have to travel for work I don't eat at all because the outcome is just so unpredictable. And embarrassing as this is to admit - I wear an adult diaper to bed just in case!!
I had endoscopy today and the doctor says everything looks good and normal and suggested I see a bariatric specialist and eat more fiber.....
If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.....

How has your health been outside of the bowel issue? Have you done afull work-up with your PCP?
When my thyroid was WAY overactive I had bowel issues- meaning frequently going, accompanied with stomach upset. I even thought I was lactose intolerant for a while and gave up milk/dairy- and it was so bad I was having accidents. Other symptoms include jittery hands, leg weakness etc.
So if you haven't been- see your PCP and get a full blood work up to see if its something not RNY related.

You may developed IBS-C - maybe SIBO?
sometimes any surgery can mess us up. I had a back surgery in November last year.. Since then I have difficult to control severe GERD..
nobody knows why... They did not touch my insides..
I am tired of it....

Just like you after 9 years post surgery i had a hernia repair surgery and after that for the past 5 years ive been taken to the ER 5 times with intestinal blockage. The last surgery being on 1-5-16. I just got back to work because like you the symptoms of dumping are always there n was concern about passing out while at work. But life goes on n i have to work to support my family. I just got a verbal warning at work because i ate while at work n was having dumping syndrome. Im going to try the meal subtitute shakes while at work. The only problem with my solution is that i can not tolerate milk. So im going to try almond or soy. Remember every case is different. Work closely with your GI doctor and dont give up trying to find what is going to work for you. Im sorry i dont have an answer for you but needed to let you know you are not alone. I dont know whats going to happen with my condition and work but i lost my 16 year old job because of the dumping syndrome and 3 weeks into this job and it already started to affect my job. I got a verbal warning. I was slouched over with my head tilted after eating. Trying not to move to keep from vomiting. My first job was at a police department and i resorted to go to work at the hospital to be there already in case something happens again. When my surgeon saw me he gave me a big hug and was surprise to see me there working. I told him im not going to give up. But the odds are against me my job requires me to be alert at all times and no boss wants to hear that they have an employee suffering from symptoms they dont have control over. My last resolution is not to eat while at work. Best of luck to you.
