Birthday next week need help...
Have some soup, and have fun.
I wouldn't try new, denser foods for the first time while out at a party. Getting sick from something doesn't put anyone in a party mood.

I would postpone the dinner... Really...it is your birthday. I would not do it. Watching others eating real food when I am still on a liquid - soft food diet would not be fun for me.
One month post p - Thats when some regret**** for me. Sometimes smell of food made me nauseous...

^what I was thinking, too^ I would politely pass on the offer. I continue to push for activity-based vs food-based celebrations but it's been a tough request to successfully happen. I have declined invitations or walked out when the food-frenzy begins. My new lifestyle demands me to or else I'll be right back in the same (sinking) boat. No regrets.
I have to agree with H.a.l.a. B. This would not be a fun time for me. If they want to celebrate with you, invite everyone to join you for a mile long walk and enjoy some flavored water together.
I turned 57 last week and hubby and I went out. He ordered a burger with all the fixings and fries. I ate a shrimp appetizer. Worked out just fine. No cake, no temptations. Nice quiet acknowledgement that I have survived another year.
If any of your friends or family have a pool, tell them you want a pool party for your birthday instead of a sit down dinner. People can bring food, and you can bring what you are able to eat. Also you will be playing in the water, being active, and embracing your new lifestyle.
