What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
I use this site a lot for budgeting issues: http://www.daveramsey.com/home/
It's not magical unfortunately, but it did help me to see how much in the hole we were getting each month. We've cut up all the credit cards, are paying off our debt and saving money. Sad that we've been married 20 years and are only just now getting a handle on our finances, but better late than never.
Edited to add that this site has some pay programs but also tons of free stuff.

I love budgeting and finance!! I went to a lady's night and we were supposed to bring something fun to do and I brought my budget!
It depends on what your financial intent is as to what will serve you best. Also, remember a budget isn't a suggestion it's a livable financial plan.
We try to operate more on a cash basis. I pull out money every two weeks for groceries and gas, as well as minor expenditures and lunches, allowances for the kids. We still have a lot of debits, but this helps. And don't feel bad, I've overdrawn our bank account many times in the 20 years we've been married. Most recently probably 2 years ago I'm guessing. I'm no good with money!

If you can get past the evangelical Christian stuff (if that's not your thing...) Dave Randey actually has really sound advice on how to pay down debt. I went to a 10 week class that met in a church basement like an AA group a few years ago. Ha. It was really helpful, though. I was not in debt at the time, but I was struggling to make ends meet. I have never allowed myself to get into any debt because of what I learned and I'm pretty sure I would have headed in that direction without the tools and intervention!

Hi Menu Peeps!! How is everyone? AV I am with you on the hot cold thing. That is me every minute of every day, drives me nuts. I am either sweating or freezing. And when I get hot I get like crawl out of my skin hot and its like it comes from the Core of the Earth its so hot, and its weird cuz it happens randomly. I can be in full Air Con and be hot, I can drink a cup of hot coffee and be cold. Is just weird!
I am MEH today but not so much about my menu, I can eat the same thing over and over and over no problem. But yesterday afternoon I got an email from the Nurse at my WLS Centre. I had blood work done on June 6th and she emailed me because there is a problem with my Iron. I figured there was a problem but needed the blood work proof. I really don't want to get into the long drawn out story in dealing with my Centre & my Family doctor and how both appear to be clueless but now my Ferritin number is 4 despite me taking Proferrin Iron pills like its my job. I will say the low Iron/Anemia explains A LOT of how I am feeling. I do have a doctors appt on July 11th with my family MD, I will be asking for one of two options, either an Iron Infusion which I prefer not to get or a referral to a Haematologist. I kept thinking I was tired because I am busy, but this kindsof tired is like its in my bones and I can never sleep enough to feel not tired. So onward...
QOTD: a few things that are not "new" but I have tired them in the last couple of weeks/days. I cut of 4-6 slices of Turkey Kielbasa and bbq it on both sides for a few minutes, such a good protein snack. I have started to grill my shrimp. I put four big shrimp on a skewer, brush with garlic butter and grill for a few minutes per side, take it off the grill and put more garlic butter on it and a sprinkle of Cilantro. I also picked up some pepperoni. I am going to take 4-6 slices, bbq them on both sides, and then put some marina sauce on them and top that with some shredded mozzarella until it melts. All great for snacks or for a meal if you want.
I am so tired I don't even have an appetite and right now it feels like I am forcing myself to eat...

Take the iron infusion ASAP. You have about zero chance of pulling up a ferritin of 4 with oral iron after RNY. Don't postpone the inevitable.

OMG Grim, I was afraid of that....
My family MD who is clueless thinks there is nothing wrong, so that's a dead end there but I probably need her for the referral.
My WLS centre is not much better but they kept saying "take this kind of Iron and we will test again in a few months and see how it is" ya thanks a-holes I am a walking zombie now...

I see people with low B12, D3, etc pull their numbers up really fast. But never iron. Some folks just always have a problem. And once it's that low, they always end up needing infusions. Continued oral iron can delay the next round of infusions by a year or two, but oral iron is just never enough.
Try to find a hematologist that has experience with RNY. That's likely your best bet.
