What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Love and joy to you. Feeling sadness and longing can be tough. Often grieving family members who come for counseling/support say, "I shouldn't cry" or "I need to get over this." I ask them to consider how sad it would be to have lived and died and for no one to cry for you when you go. This reminds them that the sadness they feel is honoring to the one they are missing. Your sister sounds lovely.

Thank you. I'm sure wherever she is, in whatever afterlife where sweet, kind people go, she's still as lovely as ever.

Good morning,
So this not being able to do any aerobics and too much sitting around with my feet up is getting to me, I'm not sleeping well and have restless legs and I'm snacking way too much. Too much Skinny Pop and last night I had a LARGE HANDFUL of the damn Kettle Cooked Backyard BBQ Chips. If you have never tried those, DON't! I told my husband he had better either finish them off, throw them out or keep them somewhere where I can't find them.
QOTD: I have three sisters, 2 older, 1 younger, we are a very close-knit family. Actually the whole extended family on my mom's side is very close. My many cousins (there were 21 of us altogether) are more like sisters and brothers to me. We almost all grew up in the same town, went to the same schools and sat together in Church on Sundays and got into mischief together. We still can't sit beside each other in a church and not start laughing, and when the "girls" all get together, watch out! It's safe to say that even at our advanced ages (70-46) we have not grown up.
B: Premier Protein Shake, 2 slices deli turkey
L: Turkey burger
D: ? Leftover pork chop?
S: Strawberries, cabot cheddar stick & Mary's gone crackers
Yay I can finally join this!
QOTD: I have a sister 11 yrs older than me. She is bipolar with schizophrenic tendencies and medications over the years have caused her to start having seizures. I miss my old sister, and I don't really know how to communicate with how she is now. She is a completely different person. All about drama and attention and shopping when they don't have the money. She has even resorted to stealing (a lot) and went to jail once for walking out of Walmart with 3,000 worth of merchandise. O_O I don't really talk to her anymore. It's sad. We used to be very close.
B- 1/2 cup Butternut Squash and Red Pepper soup (YUMMY)
S- 1/2 SF Popsicle
L- 2 Chickfila Grilled chicken Nuggets with 1/2 tsp chickfila sauce
I have a Ranch Tuna packet planned for the rest of the day, and that's all I will probably try besides a protein shake. (UGH)

That is tough. Mental illness can leave the body and take the person. I know I feel that way about my brother often. Hope you find a way to be at peace with it.

Hi all! I am very late today, but have been in back-to-back meetings since 7:30 this morning. I am on a conference call now, so taking the opportunity to check in with you all. It is unlikely that they will call on me, so I'm feeling somewhat safe in only giving the call 1/2 of my attention.
I'm with you, Kristin. Talking about food somehow takes its power away. I still like food. I just don't let it control me anymore. The brownie discussion was funny (I'm a center, BTW). I was at a party last weekend, and there was this giant platter of delicious looking brownies. I stared at it with longing for a few seconds, sighed and then walked away. I felt strong and fierce! Brownies, you do not control me. I control you! Ha!
QOTD: I am the youngest of six, and the only girl. My brothers are mostly retired now (or what passes for retirement for type As). In order of age, they are/were: a right of way agent for the Oregon Highway Division, the Dean of a college (phD in Education), an executive at a food company (dual degrees in food technology and microbiology), IT guy at a BCBS insurer and the owner of a restaurant. My brother that owns the restaurant just opened a second location, so retirement doesn't appear to be in his future any time soon. We all get along really well, and see each other often because of our care plan for my Dad. We also still celebrate all of the major holidays together, and take a big family trip each year together. I'd hang out with them even if they weren't related. They are all pretty awesome.
Time Since Surgery: 19 months
B: Egg Beaters, mozzarella and bacon omelette (cat got 1/2 the bacon, the piggy).
S: Cherries, turkey pepperoni stick
L: 4 oz ribeye
S: 3 oz chicken thigh
D: Fried Cauliflower Rice with Pork
Totals: Calories 803, Carbs 33, Protein 91
My sodium is way too high, so I may have to rethink the soy sauce in my dinner. Even using the low sodium type, that along with the turkey pepperoni, is putting me over.
Have a great day everyone!

I hope my kiddos all are close as adults like you and your sibs. I also hope they all turn out that successful! Way to go to your parents.

How do you manage to come up with such great QOTD every day (food or non-food related)?
I had time to read a few and am looking forward to reading the rest later tonight. It is HOT HOT HOT here in the Inland Empire and I had to wear a suit today for the Board meeting, but I look great in my new Kaspar bargain-priced jacket (size 8) that was originally $100, on clearance for $34.99, then discounted another 30% at Macy's, making it $25, plus tax. Woo hoo.
I have one real brother who is 4 years younger than me (5 in school, so we never attended high school together). He served in the Coast Guard and has been a Deputy Sheriff for 25 years or so. He lives about an hour away, and I only see him occasionally, but talk to his wife and kids frequently. Weird. I also have 3 stepbrothers (my Mom remarried when I was 13). The one I was closest to, my partner in crime, was killed by a drunk driver on New Year's Eve 1999. I miss him a lot. One lives in Iowa and who knows what he is up to. I hear some from his kids on facebook. The other is in San Diego and stopped talking to me when my Mom died because I had respected her wishes and didn't invite him to the funeral. Oh well. Family drama. Both my stepdad and Mom have passed, so the connection that bound us all together is gone now.
I was rushed yesterday for lunch between meetings and had an apple pecan chicken salad from Wendy's, followed by chicken for dinner after the gym. I have decided that I am not liking chicken so much anymore. I really do like seafood and shrimp the best. So, here is today's plan.
Breakfast: Premier Protein
Lunch: Salmon, vegies, a little quinoa
Dinner: Shrimp Skewers
Snack: Chobani tube
Have a good rest of the day.
