What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Thanks everyone. My surgeon is a big believer in the shakes and has his patients who are undergoing major abdominal surgery drink them. They are formulated to encourage healing and prevent infection. Unfortunately the 5th ingredient is fish oil. They're disgusting, but I'm going to suck it up and drink as many of them as I can because he's such a believer, I trust him and the extra help can't hurt.
I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement. I promise that starting Saturday, I'll be back to normal and will be able to post without complaining! But in the interim, thanks for giving me a safe place to vent!
I had no idea the shakes were so awful. No wonder you are having such hard time with them. I imagine the nerves are kicking in with the surgery happening so soon. I'm sending you hugs and all the support I can!

I've been thinking about you, but haven't had much time to get on the computer. If I recall correctly, your surgery is very soon. What is the date again? I will be thinking of you and I hope that this brings you much needed relief and all of the results you desire. Good luck. Keep us all posted.

I think it's okay to talk about former favorite foods for the most part as long as we don't slip into mourning those foods, and I didn't see that anywhere in yesterday's thread.
Food was, and is, a central part of my being. I think most people are like that in one way or another. Before surgery, food was important to me because I used to eat for pure pleasure, and it was my best pal. Now, food is still important to me, but because I need to stay mindful and make good choices. Before, geez...I'd demolish two sandwiches, half a bag of chips, and half a package of Oreos, or two huge helpings of pasta on auto-pilot-and not even realize it. I wouldn't even taste it. I can't allow the auto-pilot thing to happen ever again, so now I do still think about food A LOT, but in a totally different way than I did before surgery. ( Except when I slip up and eat chocolate for post breakfast dessert. WTH, Audrey!? )
QOTD: Siblings: I am the youngest of five, and I was an "Oops" because my mother had started on a new medication "birth control pills"...and she'd forget to take them. Oops.
I have 3 sisters, one of which is deceased, and a brother, all are a lot older than me. My sisters are 56 and 50, my sister who died would have turned 53 this year. My brother just turned 54. ( I'm 44, will be 45 next month. Boo hiss! ). They all still live in Texas, though not in our hometown. I was only ever really close with Amy, my sister who died. She helped take care of me when I was young. My other two sisters were not maternal in the least...lol. Neither ever had, or wanted, children. Amy never got to be a mom, but she'd have been wonderful at it. Ug. Enough of that.
Menu so far today:
B: coffee with all the trimmings, 2 slices of bacon ( it's bacon!! ) and one Babybel mini cheese wheel thingy. Had a Lindt 90% dark chocolate square and half a serving of Lilly's chocolate chips after...Oh well. I suck. I did leave the white chocolate chips alone though.
L: leftover lemon pepper chicken
S: pepperoni and Gouda ( more than likely)
D: No idea yet. Feeling uninspired in the recipe department.
Totals without dinner added in: 674 cals, 39 gr protein, 17 gr carbs, 47 gr fat. Abysmal.
Sorry this turned into a therapy session.

Aww, I'm so sorry about your sister. But from how you're "speaking" about her, she is close to you still, and that's lovely.
Thanks, Kristen. I truly believe she is.
