Good morning. I agree with your observation about food, Kristen. I find I do the same thing with one friend in particular. Every conversation starts with, or at some point, includes food. I always say, my inner fat girl is always struggling to break free. I've been hesitant to post because I'm tired of always being such a debbie downer, and you guys don't need to hear it, but I figure if I can't complain here, where can I? I may rethink posting, but I'm going to get it out today. The past few days have been difficult for me. First, my public service announcement: If a doctor ever suggests that you use Impact Shakes prior to a surgery, think long and hard . . . particularly if the combination of fish and vanilla grosses you out . . . yes, the shakes are vanilla flavored, but include sardine and anchovy oil, so all you taste is the fish. I'm ready to hurl just thinking about it . . .and I need to drink 3 a day. I'm to the point where all I smell is the fish oil and it's ruining ALL food for me. My inner fat girl is screaming "IF you're going to make me ingest 1020 cal. can't it be something good?? Like cheesecake? There's protein and carbs in cheesecake . . . ugh" I'm to the point where I take a drink and chase it with flavored water . . . or a cracker . . . I drin****il it makes me gag, and then I know I'm finished with the dose. I don't think I got a full 8 oz (each box is 8 oz) in yesterday. Hoping to do better today.
KQOTD: I have one brother who is 3.5 years younger than I am, and was never fat a day in his life. He runs Ironmans, spartan races, etc. He's part of what pushed me to surgery . . . I got fed up with always going to watch his races, and realized, I'd like to be the one crossing the finish line. He's my biggest cheerleader and, if he's not racing, always shows up to cheer me on yelling at me to "finish strong." He works in post production on TV shows and movies so he's a pain in the ass to watch anything with because he always notices the flaws and continuity issues.
Food: My plan sucks as all I can taste is the fish and it's killed my appetite, but here goes
B: 2 eggs, 1 oz ham, 1 oz cheese (got through half of this before the nausea kicked in)
L: Skirt steak, side salad, a peach
D: ? Probably a new york strip . . . I'm trying to get as much beef in as possible
S: 3 Fish and vanilla shakes; light and fit, skinny vanilla latte
Totals: Cal. 2008 (ugh); Protein: 152g; Fat: 67g; Carbs: 185g (and that doesn't count the crackers I need to stem the nausea brought on by the fish shakes)
Please don't not post because of that. I post down **** ALL THE TIME, and I'm not sorry about it either. You are going through some heavy **** with this revision and the GERD and everything that goes along with it. We're here for support and while you will get better, and things will change, we'll be needing you for support. Dump on us, and not one of us will complain. As a matter of fact, we'll all line up to give you a giant hug.
I'd rather eat nothing than drink a fish oil shake.

Never hesitate to post, Stacy. We are all here for you and want to offer help and support. Makes us feel useful. I can't imagine why your surgeon is having you drink the fish shakes. I would be having the same problem getting them down as you. Yuck!

Uhg. Just uhg. That sounds terrible! Hope you don't need to do that for very long. Or...that you lose your ability to taste 'fish' for a while. Temporary mild tongue trauma? Rooting for you!
